   First of all- Georgetown is so cute. The hotel the restaurant is attached to is beautiful and the restaurant was a feast of the eyes itself. We shared a harvest salad- delish and we had the red drum fish and the flat iron steak, with roasted carrots as a side. Don’t miss the carrots! Portion size was perfect. Treat yourself and enjoy dinner in a beautiful space.

   The Independent is tucked away in the new (opened in 2024) George Hotel in Georgetown. It has a bright and open feel, with an open kitchen. The seafood takes center stage and our oyster apps (a half dozen raw and deviled eggs with oysters) were very tasty. Mains were equally well-prepared (the red drum featured perleau- a local rice dish) but the desserts were off the charts! Try the Hummingbird cake, another local delicacy! Wine and cocktail selections were wide-ranging. Service was exceptional.

   I had such a wonderful brunch experience for my birthday! The food and service were great and I was surprised with a sweet birthday card and gifts from the restaurant. How thoughtful! I would highly recommend the Independent for a great dining experience!

   The Independent is outstanding! Truly a remarkable meal, service (thank you, Jane!), and just a lovely experience. Get a drink out back overlooking the river and have a memorable meal inside.

    Once again, fantastic meal. Grilled oysters were excellent. I had the pork chop. My wife had the Independent Caesar with truffle frites. My son the shrimp and grits. Dessert was not needed but we did it anyway. Our server was attentive and took excellent care of us. Thank you for another great meal.
