AA 2 Rosette restaurant. The Forge Restaurant in Chester is one of Chester’s best restaurants with delicious food and unrivalled service. With a passion for wild, sustainable British ingredients, and a love of simple cooking over fire and charcoal. The Forge has its kitchen front and centre in the middle of this lovely, and elegant space. Incredible dry-aged beef and wild venison will be found in the maturation cabinets, awaiting their turn on the amazing forge grill, to be lovingly grilled and roasted over beech logs. Head chef Dan Regan, a passionate chef, heads up the young, vibrant team in the kitchen. Combining amazing, wild, sustainable ingredients from land and sea into sumptuous creations that form really memorable eating experiences. We focus on British ingredients, as local to Chester. Our venison, always a hugely popular part of our menus, is harvested from herds on estates that focus on improving biodiversity and deer health – a process we call Farming the Wild.

Amazing meal, we had a beef roast. We added cauliflower cheese and dirty mash, which were a great addition. Beef was superb. Roast potatoes were real!! Gravy was phenomenal. Not quite enough of it, but staff were happy to bring over more.

Food/drinks were delicious but food was a little overpriced. We were also given conflicting information about being provided a free drink for downloading the Lifestyle Concierge app (one waiter said it allowed any free drink but another said wine only, this wasn’t made clear until after I’d ordered a different drink). It also wasn’t specified that the vegetarian dinner wouldn’t come with the usual veg, potatoes etc. so it definitely wasn’t worth being the same price as a full roast dinner

It was a group booking on a ghost tour. The menu didn’t look inviting but when the food arrived we were pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed

My Son and I have visited the Forge on several occasions and we were considering Christmas Lunch at The Forge this year. We visited yesterday 29 September at 6pm for Sunday Lunch. The food was of a good quality and very tasty. However, on this occasion we were very disappointed with the portion size of our starter and desert. Although we see that the elegant presentation of a dish is very important. We chose the lamb starter and the white chocolate mouse for desert The lamb was presented as the size of the end of my teaspoon being, one very small piece. So small, in-fact that you could hardly taste it! The white chocolate mouse again being just the size of a teaspoon. In the past we have looked forward to dinning at The Forge, however, we may have to look else where in the future.
