A favorite Southwest Virginia landmark, The Farmhouse Restaurant has served the New River Valley since 1963. The authentic farm house, originally part of the Ridinger Estate, was build in the 1800's.

In the early 1970's, an old train caboose was added to provide a unique dining area. During the past decade, a rustic lounge, additional dinner seats, and a spacious 250-seat Banquet Facility have added to the charm of The Farmhouse.

                                                                                                    This place is a continued disappointment compared to what it used to be. We’ve given it about 6 last chances now hoping that it would improve, but I don’t think we’ll be back again. The food quality is extremely poor in comparison to the prices. The ambience is great, but that’s about all this place has left to offer.

                                                                                                    The Farmhouse is consistenly good. The little nooks give privacy and help with noise. You can easily have a conversation. The onion rings are crisy and salty. My steak was cooked perfectly and the baked potato delicious. Thanks for another great meal.

                                                                                                    The food was excellent and the ambience was nice. I had noted when I made the reservation that it was for a birthday, and the hostess even asked us whose birthday it was when we were seated. However there was no mention of the birthday at all, we had to ask for bread for the table, and our server didn’t come by to ask if we wanted any wine or other beverage when we received our main course. Overall it was less than the celebration for my daughter’s 25th birthday than I would have expected from one of our favorite restaurants in the area.

Dirty dishes remained way too long. I had to ask that they be removed. A dirty salad dish was still on the table when our dessert was presented.

                                                                                                    Wonderful experience on New Year’s Eve. Cocktails n the bar prior to seating. Tina, our waitress, was magnificent. Despite crowds for NYE, she was so attentive. Shrimp cocktail appetizer delivered quickly and was delicious. Cocktails were great. Our meal, prime rib and crab cakes, were excellent. Too full to enjoy dessert with our dinner, we took home to have later in the evening. Chocolate mousse cake so rich, and creamy. Peanut butter pie great too.
