I was expecting good things when I read the menu, but maybe my expectations were too high. Staff were good, doing their best on a very busy night. The ambience was lovely, we were sat by the fireplace at my request. It was the food that was a let down. I didn't like the way my snails were prepared, but couldn't put my finger on why. My partner's oysters were lovely. The main of mussels was a sauce that was too rich for me, which others may find nice, but the shoestring fries (pommes paille) weren't helping the dish. Some regular fries or chips would have been easier to dip in the sauce. My partner's pork dish was "ok", although the jus on top was lovely - needed more of it. Dessert was great though! Tarte Tatin was huge, and very tasty, and the Creme brulee was fanstatic. Overall, slightly disappointed.

Good food in a charming setting. The main dining area is quite cosy with a fire going along the side. No complaints with any of the food. The stand out was definitely the tarte tartin for me.

Food was delicious, however time between courses was quite long. Due to the long wait time between courses, my group was kicked out of the booth.

Delicious, innovative meals and such great value for money. Staff are lovely, restaurant ambience is friendly. Facilities are spotless (important to me). Highly recommended. Enjoy this wonderful Hills spot! :)

Very enjoyable experience, staff extra friendly with very good service. Food was great particularly the deserts. Seniors discount much appreciated.
