We have a tradition of having Holiday Tea in Boston. This was our first time at the Boston Public Library and it was really lovely. The room is elegant with high ceilings, lots of white tablecloths and silver chandeliers, and the traditional three-tiered serving dish comes to the table. The food was amazing-- the scones, especially the cinnamon scones, with cream, jam, and lemon curd were divine. The lobster salad mini sandwiches were also delicious. It was a little loud. That was our only complaint. The service was great and we liked walking around the library after the tea to see the courtyard and John Singer Sargent murals.

All great but there were almost no Christmas decorations. We though it would be more of a fun festive setting.

Lovely respite from both the holiday frenzy and so much negativity in the news. Calming.

The food and the ambience are outstanding, and the servers are pleasant. But the restaurant is poorly managed. Despite arriving on time for our reservation and having been advised about the 10-minute grace period and the one and one-half hour reservation length, we waited almost 15 minutes to be seated and almost another 15 to be served. Upon departing, the manager addressed an adult woman as “honey.” New management is needed, for the benefit of the hardworking staff and the price point for patrons.

The whole experience exceeded our expectations. Maitre’d was personable, professional, and accommodating. Wait staff were very attentive. A definite return visit will be scheduled. A perfect Holiday experience!!!

This Christmas tea was extraordinary! The service was top notch and the food marvelous. My sister, adult daughter, and niece have been going to Christmas teas in Boston for many years. This was the best! The ambiance of the BPL was lovely! Also, they had no problem providing a vegan tea for my daughter.

Amazing experience but a bit expensive for what you get. I would happily go back anytime!
