What a beautiful place to eat. The building has been wonderfully restored and the food was gorgeous. A shout out to the bartender who made the most delicious Appletini I’ve ever had! The staff were attentive but not overbearing - they couldn’t have been more friendly. We started in the champagne bar before moving to The Chapel to eat, and then retired to a private lounge for after-dinner coffee.. All in all an excellent evening; we’ve already booked our return!

We veneered for dinner after being given a meal voucher. It was a little out of our way but well worth the visit. We throughly enjoyed our meals from start to finish. Staff were all very polite and helpful.

Sadly, we were really disappointed with our experience at The Chapel (as well as the Champagne Bar). The food was horribly overpriced (40 for a main once you’d added a side of veg and chips - which you need) and the quality just did not stack up. Diners do not choose a restaurant like this if they intend on going out for a burger so if over 80% of your diners end up ordering a burger (which a quick Look around us demonstrated the case to be), it’s a clear indication that the menu is lacking and the prices are too high. I wish I’d read the trip advisor reviews before we went here as they’re mostly negative and reflect our experience accurately. Staff were nice enough but appeared inexperienced and were slow and we were surrounded by complaining tables. I ordered a margarita to drink from the champagne bar and was served tequila and concentrate lime as they had run out of fresh lime and had no triple sec but they tried to pass it off and intended to still charge me £15 for it. Just not good enough. If you’re going to charge 5* prices, you need to have a menu, food quality and service to justify it and this just didn’t come close. No wonder we saw so many guests bringing in dominos! Stay in the hotel, a million times over, but do not waste your time or money in the restaurant.

Amazing setting but marred by mediocre experience. Waited over 10 mins past booking time to be collected from the bar and had to remind them we were waiting - once seated the service improved (thank you to waitress who brought us extra bread, which was tastiest part of the meal). The menu was limited and the food uninspiring - the chef needs to work on their seasoning as every dish was bland and tasteless. This could be so much more!

Food was disappointing for the price, not great flavour. They did not have any of the wines we wanted (no Sauvignon at all which is surprising for an up market restaurant) and so went with a wine that ended up not being great for the price.

Virgin voucher - Sunday lunch Black pudding and ham hock starter - delicious. Roast lamb - more gristle and fat than meat. Returned to chef. Had to ask for the other lunch to be kept warm as neither of us wanted to eat alone. What remained of the side dish was returned in a clean dish, but hadn't been kept warm. Ran out of desserts so had to supply from a la carte menu. Service not fabulous. Lots of uncleared tables. Spoke with manager who 'waived' the bill. Other unhappy guests.

Beautiful location for a special dinning experience with attentive, friendly service. The food was beautifully presented, with a well balanced, complimentary flavours infused to make truly remarkable flavourful dishes. The staff were attentive, helpful, and friendly with nothing being too much trouble-thank you.
