   Do not support this business if you are Muslim or if you are morally opposed to bigotry. My husband and I (hijabi) walked into the restaurant where we were ignored for several minutes by the hostess. She refused to even look up until another party (of non-Muslims) walked in behind us. As the other party walked in, she immediately looked up to greet them and take their name. They seemed just as confused as my husband and I were, as they were clearly in line behind us. I politely spoke up and let the hostess know we were here for our reservation. The hostess walked us to our table where we sat for a minute before a server came and dropped off a container of water. After filling our cups, he told us to “have a good rest of our night.” I found this odd because that is typically what you say at the end of the meal, but I just assumed maybe he was passing us off to a different server. I was wrong. My husband and I sat there for 45 minutes without anyone coming to take our order- not for tea, appetizers, or entrees. We did not want to assume the worse. After all, it was Valentine’s Day, so the restaurant was busy. However, after watching 3 separate (non-Muslim) parties come in after us and receive prompt service, our suspicions were confirmed. After 45 minutes of watching servers glance at us then swerve quickly in the opposite direction, we decided to get up and leave without having spoken to anyone. On the way out, the hostess gave us a curt “have a great night”, though it was obvious we had not been served. The entire situation was incredibly disappointing. My husband and I were stunned that, in the year 2025, a business would treat their customers so poorly due to hijab. It is shameful that you would let a simple piece of fabric turn you into an oppressor. We ended up placing a pickup order from Biryani Pot by Concord Mills. Their food is always phenomenal, and they do not let religious tensions impact their customer service.

   Food was incredible, but the service on a busy night of a special occasion was poor. We and several other tables had to ask repeatedly for requests. I will definitely go back in hope of better service because the food is so good.

   The food was amazing. It was perfectly spiced and cooked. We even ordered some extra soup to take home for later. The ambiance was not great, as the tables were so close to each other and the rooms were incredibly dark.

   We had a delicious dinner at Blue Taj. We enjoyed the chaat and the samosas for appetizers. The samosas are large and the tasty chaat is a generous sharing portion. For our dinner we had the tandoori chicken tikka, lamb in cream sauce and vegetable coconut curry. All of the flavors were delicious. We ordered a level three for spice and we thought it was on the mild side for the average medium spicy. The garlic nan was really good. Again the portions were very generous. We had lots of delicious leftovers for the next day. The service was adequate but not intuitive. (Although we had reservations and the restaurant was not full, we were seated so close to the door that every time it opened we got a blast of cold air. Of course that wouldn’t matter unless it was a chilly evening.)
