   We had a wonderful experience at Blackwall Barn & Lodge. My wife had the fresh catch of the day (Sea Bass), my 15 year old son had the Lodge Burger and I had the Crab Cakes. Everything was seasoned perfectly, the portions were large and we really enjoyed our meal. My son said it was the best burger he has ever had, which is quite the compliment! We finished it off with an Apple Cinnamon Bread Pudding. The ambiance was very nice and the noise level was minimal. The service was excellent as well. We highly recommend and look forward to our return.

   It was a evening with friends and the food and service was great. I had the roasted chicken with fries, and my wife had a sirloin steak with veg. Everything was delicious.

   The service was excellent, with the exception of the hostess. Her disposition was unprofessional, and the gentlemen in the blue sport coat whom I'm thinking was one of the managers was very unprofessional. I requested a seat not by the door due to it being very cold outside on Sunday. Although there was both available, the gentleman stated he didn't want the server to be overwhelmed and and our service to be compromised seated us at another table, less than 15 minutes another couple comes in and he seates them at that very same both I requested. I was celebrating my birthday and thar put a damper on the celebration.

   Good experience overall. It was a busy evening, so the noise level and the comfort level were in jeopardy. Our seating was questionable as far as comfort (very hard to eat on living room furniture sitting on a pillow) and the noise level from a band limited conversation and the large group put an early end to the evening. Nice room , decent service. Perhaps we will try again.

   The food was very good. Portions were generous. The only issue was that the food was not piping hot when it arrived at the table. We had the fried green tomatos, burger and fries, NY strip with veggies and potatos. It was warm, room temperature. Not hot like it should be. We didn't complain. Onion soup and beef tortilla soup were nice and hot. Smith island cake was a wonderful treat when we got home. We would definitely return.

   I always have a fantastic time at the Blackwell Barn and Lodge in Gambrills, MD! When we arrived for our reservation for two, we were greeted with such warmth and taken right to our seats. Our server, Ryan, was fantastic! He was attentive and funny; we never had to chase him down for drink refills. He even shared some great menu suggestions, including a few of his favorites. We kicked things off with the crab dip, which was delicious. I remember it used to be served in a fun crab-shaped bowl that was lit on fire right before it came to the table, and I think it had more chunks of crab in it back then. We tried the Chicken Pot Pie and the braised short rib for our main courses. Let me tell you, that Chicken Pot Pie was probably one of the best I’ve had in this area! The pastry was perfectly golden and flaky, with just the right mix of chicken and veggies—no soggy bottom in sight! As for the braised short rib, it was so good that it disappeared in no time. For dessert, we had apple bread pudding, a delightful twist on the classic—super yummy! Overall, it was a great dining experience!
