From day one, we have wanted this little restaurant to be a space where anyone can feel comfortable & welcomed. Classic French cuisine is the root of this ethos - consistent, familiar and even nostalgic flavours from the tried & true feel good classics, yet slightly elevated with a touch of whimsy. Whether you are up for a curated culinary experience with our 4 & 7 Course tasting menus (Fri & Sat evenings), or prefer to choose your own adventure with our 3-course Table D’hote menu (Wed & Thurs evenings), or are in search of an upscale lunch à la carte menu (Thur - Sat); we have you covered! Our menus are composed entirely to showcase the best local products in Lanark County & the Ottawa Valley and are tailored monthly to best celebrate the tastes of the season.     With Perch and Black Tartan both celebrating anniversaries in November 2024 we decided to celebrate by doing a two day collaboration dinner, a "home and home" as it's called in sports. On Wednesday the 27th of November, Perch will be joining us at black tartan for an 8 course tasting menu (each restaurant showcasing 4 courses) with optional beverage pairing. Dinner starts at 7pm for the entire room. Our reservations are set for 6:15, 6:30, and 6:45 so that you have time to get settled and enjoy a pre dinner drink if you'd like. This reservation is for Wednesday, November 27th at black tartan kitchen. Both days will offer the same menu, just done in our respective restaurants

    Lovely choice for a lunch or dinner with friends . The cuisine is inventive and well-presented. Our server Paulo was friendly and knowledgeable.

    Our experience here has always been fantastic. The chef makes a point of coming out and explaining every dish which is an added bonus. We’ve gone on many special occasions and never been disappointed by the quality of ingredients nor the obvious level of skill involved in every dish

    The food and service were both outstanding and excellent, I am celiac and they were able to adjust the dishes without sacrificing any taste. Will 100% be back again. The chef Ian came out and each course explained the dish and explained where it was locally sourced from, I did the beverage pairing and the wines were a good size pour and my husband enjoyed the desert whiskey at the end. Highly recommend to anyone looking for amazing food that’s locally sourced. My husband and I both said there was not one dish we didn’t enjoy or love, we have done many tastings at restaurants before and usually there is one dish that we say was not our favourite or would never have again, but at Black Tartan, each of the dishes one after another from our starter to the dessert were amazing! As well I would like to note our server Jessica was so friendly and just made the atmosphere so inviting.
