The Black Grape - a new small plate restaurant located on Edinburgh's Royal Mile. Expect small plates, wine & good times in a stunning setting. This custom designed wine bar & restaurant is the ideal setting for intimate date night dining, drinks with friends or a quick snack as you people watch in the heart of the city. WHAT a lovely meal. Date night for me and my husband, away on a rare weekend without the kids. Black grape was a last minute booking I found on open table - it did not disappoint. The cocktails are AMAZING and the food, phenomenal. My husband said ‘top 5 meals of his life’. The service is also exquisite - young, attractive and energetic servers who are knowledgable and attentive. HIGHLY recommend

Average menu, not a good ambience. After some stressful news it was not the environment to relax in. Food was ok but not amazing. Toilets not well kept.

Was an amazing dinner. Food was delicious and the staff could have not been nicer. Took some locals who had not been before who are definitely going back.

We had an excellent experience at the black grape. The staff were phenomenal. The food was excellent. The customer service was way beyond what we were expecting. I think when we initially read the reviews we were somewhat concerned that this rest wasn’t booked on the Saturday. It is a complete mystery to me why that is. It is one of the best restaurants in that area of Edinburgh.

Menu is similar to tapas so the intention is to share dishes. Up to a point that works fairly well though some dishes are quite small and one doesn’t know which until they arrive. Each dish is well created, but given that you choose one or more from each part of the menu, there isn’t a large choice. Most of the dishes are quite creative and therefore take time to produce, adding to the cost and impacting on “value for money”. In contrast, I had the pavlova which was huge! The meringue was rather chewy and mint was a bit overwhelming. The staff were very friendly and helpful and food was delivered promptly. A bit on the noisy side if there happens to be a large party, otherwise a very pleasant venue
