The restaurant is named after America’s most famous founding father, Benjamin Franklin. While he was pinnacle in America’s birth, he also became the first ambassador to France. While on trips to Paris, he would wine and dine with the best of them and when he returned, he would bring back the French culture, food and wine, and share it with our new nation. Dishes like Potato Lyonnaise and Crème Brulée were the first of his favorites he shared with America. The Benjamin reflects that bridged gap between the two countries’ cultures. The restaurant and bar is french-inspired, but uniquely American. It sits in Ridgefield's historic district in a 1875 house, but the interiors are modern, elegant and new. Chef prepares dishes like Mussels, Foie Gras, Shrimp Toast, Chicken, Halibut, Duck, and more.

    I love this restaurant but last night it was VERY VERT COLD OUTSIDE and it was COLD INSIDE THE RESTAURANT, MYFOOD GOT COLD REAL FAST NOT PLEASANT!

    We loved every single delicious dish! The server was OUTSTANDING, the short ribs were incredible, and the staff - including the host - made my mom's 85th birthday remarkable. Thank you for going out of your way to make our evening so memorable. We can't wait to go back.

    Very disappointing. Made reservation for main dining room. When we arrived, they told us there was no availability in that room even though there were several empty tables. They put us upstairs, which was very noisy and crowded. Then no waiter came to our table for 10 minutes and only because we asked the busboy to ask our waiter to come over. Food was equally disappointing. Chicken lacked seasoning and was very bland. $23 burger was virtually tasteless and smothered with caramelized onions. Servers were overwhelmed, resulting in inattentive service. Don’t waste your money.

    The Benjamin has quickly become one of our favorite restaurants. We drive from New Canaan to Ridgefield almost once a week. They offer a diverse menu of creative salads and apps, seafood, chicken and steak, a killer burger and desserts.
