The restaurant is named after America’s most famous founding father, Benjamin Franklin. While he was pinnacle in America’s birth, he also became the first ambassador to France. While on trips to Paris, he would wine and dine with the best of them and when he returned, he would bring back the French culture, food and wine, and share it with our new nation. Dishes like Potato Lyonnaise and Crème Brulée were the first of his favorites he shared with America. The Benjamin reflects that bridged gap between the two countries’ cultures. The restaurant and bar is french-inspired, but uniquely American. It sits in Ridgefield's historic district in a 1875 house, but the interiors are modern, elegant and new. Chef prepares dishes like Mussels, Foie Gras, Shrimp Toast, Chicken, Halibut, Duck, and more.

    The food is a bit inconsistent here—some dishes are fantastic (the halibut, Brussels sprouts, and pumpkin cheesecake are all excellent), but others are less successful (clams casino and the pork chop). The cocktails are a little unbalanced. We sat upstairs and the ambience was only okay—we could see and hear a staff member sharpening knives in the back for nearly our whole meal. A nice place that just could be exceptional.

    We met another couple for dinner during the Christmas season. The restaurant was beautifully decorated. We were seated right night to the fireplace and Christmas tree. The restaurant was bustling and the vibe was great. The service and food was excellent. We ordered a variety of appetizers and they were all unique and amazing. Dinner was excellent. The drink menu offers high quality drinks and a good variety. We will be back for sure.

    We went for Sunday brunch. The service was impeccable, the food was very good (but we hadn't ordered anything challenging). As the restaurant was just had filled while we there it was quite than it would be for dinner. The cost was quite reasonable.

    Quite disappointing. Service was pleasant but slow. Both of our entrees were tepid to cool, even after sending back once. Halibut entree was tasteless and dessert was less than average.

    This was my first time but my wife had been for lunch. I would definitely recommend. The food was delicious, service was attentive but not overbearing and generally had a great vibe. We sat upstairs near the fireplace. My wife had the salmon cooked to perfection and I had a mushroom risotto that was fantastic. The apple crumb desert was the perfect end to a great dinner. We’ll definitely be back.
