The Aviator has a lot of work to do before we will go back. It started with the abrasive hostess with the big mouth. From there we had a good waiter that was mostly on point. Then came the food that is difficult to describe. We ordered 3 appetizers and 2 glasses of wine. The wine was very good but the food was horrible. The bao bun with beef had a rectangular chunk of something they called beef, but it looked like a block of Spam. Actually Spam would have been much better. $120 for 2 glasses of wine, 3 appetizers including tip. Definitely had buyers remorse.
The building is beautiful and in the summer evenings the 9th floor deck will be the place to be for drinks and a great mountain view, but pass on the food.
Unfortunately the main restaurant downstairs, Pamela's, has its share of service and food quality issues. We tried that a few weeks ago. The food was better but not great and it took 35 minutes to get wine. I totally understand it takes a monumental effort to get a big hotel up to speed, but please fix the food. You can do better.
