Paying tribute to its lively past, Alexander Bar is named after the original owner of the hotel first built on the site in the 1880s. This was reincarnated in 1926 as The Hotel Alexander. Alexander Bar is now the elegant ground floor attraction at The Savoy Hotel Little Collins, infused with a rich history. Famous guests could once be found here during the jazz era and beyond, sipping on cocktails while listening to the easy sounds of crooners sharing the scene.

The space has recently been refurbished in a contemporary Art Deco design, honouring its origins. The bar, encased in marble, showcases bold geometric patterned carpets, linear angled pillars, full-length mirrors, and classic tray ceilings, complemented by soft lighting.

Food was plentiful, but because it was Christmas night, the vegetables were a little tired. . My table was in a little entrance way between the bar and the reception area. I felt like I was sitting in a hallway, it would be nicer In The actual bar area itself.

Very disappointed as low quality food provided with no labels as to what was on buffet for price charged per person they advertised that it would be an exceptional experience however this is not the case and on the menu online it stated lamb cutlet morrocan style which was false advertising as was just bits of lamb no cutlet deserts were like from a Cole’s supermarket shelf the feta was a no name brand the Xmas crackers were like from a $2 shop the salads were bland eg a bowl of peas a plate of sliced tomatoes etc no plates cleared from table poor service only 90’min seating for $250 per person well over priced and do not recommend or will return we were really looking forward to having a nice Xmas lunch and were embarrassed as we had an overseas guest still can’t believe as a family of 10 it was $2500 and so not worth it no value and a long time to save that money I hav sent email to manager but no reply

The only thing I would change is to add an extra half an hour for lunch and to have a free glass of champagne on arrival. The staff were great and attentive the atmosphere was beautiful and calm which I really enjoyed. I would highly recommend the Savoy Hotel for celebrations.

We were both dissatisfied with the food Pork cutlets were fried (could have been deep fried ) not what we expected and the Caesar salad had only 2, very small portions of chicken and was missing the egg all together Staff were doing there very best but appeared to be very young and a little inexperienced maybe.. We prefer to eat at the hotel where we are staying but chose to dine else where on the 2nd night

A lovely place to have dinner, and convenient if staying at the Savoy. Fabulous attentive service both in the bar and at dinner.

Good food in a welcoming atmosphere. The staff waiting tables were a little green but they were enthusiastic which I will take over experienced and jaded any day! The food and wine menus menu were short but interesting with a large range of wines by the glass to match as you preferred rather than being limited to one or two reds or whites. We started with cocktails and were delighted with being served by the mixologist-sommelier himself and given the background story of both with some interesting information on the ingredients and why they were chosen. It was a lovely start and set the tone for the evening. The food was tasty, not overwhelming in portion size (we are still giggling about the micro-scallops!) and mostly reasonably priced (the micro-scallops were $22 and definitely not value for money - very tasty though!) given we were in Melbourne. We shared a dessert which didn’t ring any excitement bills but hit the sweet spot needed at the end of the meal. We would definitely go back and enjoy another meal at the Alexander Bar, and yes, we’ll be starting with a cocktail again.

The Savoy Hotel no longer do lunches & have not for some time, however they have not updated OpenTable nor the signage at the hotel stating times & days lunches are available. Very disappointing experience to have a booking confirmed to a non-event & having to go elsewhere.👎👎👎 Hopefully the hotel has now removed The Alexander Bar from your website & other users are not let down

Dear Guest. I’m very sorry to hear about your recent experience at The . It’s certainly disappointing when information is outdated and leads to an inconvenience like this. We can confirm that we have updated both our OpenTable listings and the signage at the hotel to reflect the current status accurately. I understand how frustrating it must have been to have a confirmed booking only to find out that the service is no longer available. We appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve our services. If you have any further concerns or if there is anything else we can do to make this right for you, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Yours sincerely, Team Savoy
