The Ahwahnee Hotel dining experience boasts a "spectacular" historic dining room with breathtaking views of Yosemite. Guests praise the "excellent service" and "wonderful ambiance," enhanced by live piano music. While currently buffet-only due to kitchen renovations, the "prime rib" and "salmon" are standout dishes. Dinner was lovely, the atmosphere was beautiful. They are rebuilding the kitchen so they served a dinner buffet that was delicious with wonderful option's. My family of giant boys had the prime rib, i had the shrimp scampi and polenta which was delicious. Very nice meal and excited for the hotel to have a brand new commercial kitchen soon. 100 year anniversary of the hotel 2027. Our waiter had worked there for 38 years! Incredible.

I tried to pull up menu before we went but wasn’t successful. I didn’t know the kitchen was closed for a remodel and they were only serving buffet dinners. My bad. Cuts of beef were good, but not much else. How do you screw up roasted potatoes and broccolini? I couldn’t eat either. One of two green salads was empty and not refilled. Bean soup was blah. Service was good and ambience was lovely with live piano music. Their temporary kitchen, which consisted of two huge containers placed next to the dining room, blocked the beautiful view and was not anticipated. Always an extravagant splurge, we have eaten here many times before. This time we left disappointed.

Delicious buffet. Alert staff and beautiful piano music. Wish more diners dressed better as that would add to the ambiance.

So disappointed! Our server was awful. It was a buffet and most of the hot food pans were empty ! It wasn’t overly busy ! The dining room is beautiful!

Dinner Buffet food options were limited; all of the hot food was cold in the trays, as was the tri-tip meat at the carving station, even the au juice and gravy were cold. Some trays were completely empty. Two salad bowls with dressing were soggy: nothing other than croutons to throw on your salad. Dessert table?? Limited selection of small bite size desserts not readily replenished. On the plus side we had a fabulous intimate table by the window with a view of the falls; the dining room is beautiful. $63.00 per person.

The whole point of dining there is to be in that great old dining room and the historic hotel. A short walk out back provides a good view of half dome. Learn a little about it before arriving. Juice was fresh squeezed and fresh fruit on the buffet very good, particularly the strawberries, which I assume were local. Coffee also very good. French toast with maple syrup had nice cinnamon flavor. Except for the eggs benedict, most other offerings consisted of foods also served at other park dining locations but served in a better way. This is understandable given the park's remote location and limited food storage facilities. Stay at the Ahwahnee if you can but at least dine once in this history-filled place.

Breakfast buffet was horrible for the price. You at this beautiful hotel and serve horrible cold food. The waitress we had was the worst, I did see other servers that were really enjoying the job but not ours.

Food was mediocre at best. Buffet style. Not even an omelet station. This hotel is as pricey as a Ritz Carlton but has sub standard food. No room service. Buffet was extremely small and ill optioned with unappetizing looking eggs and rare meat options outside of pork. Website mentions a dress code but it’s not followed. So we packed like fools. And dinner for 5 is $300 or breakfast for 5 $125. We have up on experimenting with lunch. The atmosphere is amazing. Such a shame the food takes away from the experience. Staff is nice. I guess there is a kitchen remodel hence the buffet and lack of effort for exceptionalism but they should do a public service and at least mention that before booking.

Bait and switch. It’s a mid buffet price like as 5 star dining full service restaurant. Gave it two chances hence 2 reviews. They don’t mention the fact that it is a buffet due to a kitchen remodel. They write about a dress code which caused us to pack unnecessary items while they don’t enforce it. They act like they are packed when they are half full and keep calling to make sure we will honor our reservation. If you stay at the resort don’t stay for the food.
