Since 2022, Tartuca has been a quintessential Pacific Northwest restaurant, contextualizing its hyper-local, farm-direct produce through an Italian lens on the active strip of Mississippi Avenue in North Portland. Inside Tartuca is a hip, bustling environment with an open kitchen, powered by a grooving soundtrack, house made pastas and focaccia, inventive composed dishes, and abundantly flowing wine from a tightly curated Italian list that exclusively features small, artisanal producers making wine naturally from organic and biodynamically farmed vineyards. For those seeking a quieter experience, Tartuca's best kept secret is a cozy back patio open all year round. We can't wait to serve you!

We went here with friend who had been to Tartuca previously and enjoyed it. It did not disappoint. The homemade focaccia was delicious, as was the burrata salad. The beet cappelletti was extraordinary. I definitely recommend and hope to return soon.

Michael, our wait guy gave us just the right balance of attention and privacy. He was knowledgeable and very helpful in wine selection, and food selection. And when the food came, everything was perfection. We had focaccia with burrata cheese, crisp, spring green salad with an awesome dressing, the Bolognese pasta and lamb meatballs, all of which were fantastic. At an earlier visit, we had Osso Buco, which was over the top my highest recommendation to this fine dining establishment that hits all the right notes without being pretentious.

I had dinner at Tartuca during a long weekend visit. It was walking distance from my Air BnB and I always appreciate a small, well-designed menu, so I booked a reservation. I was sat at the bar, where you can watch as your food is prepared. As a solo diner, this was a nice form of entertainment to accompany my meal. I ordered focaccia, the farm greens salad, the farro risotto, a cocktail, and a glass of wine. The portions were enormous and could probably be 1/3 smaller for the price (at least based on other restaurants I've visited), and despite the name of the restaurant ("tartuca" means "turtle"), the food and service were quick. Everything was delicious and had a great balance of flavor and texture. The wine my server recommended was a great match for my entree. I was way too full to manage dessert, but enjoyed the post-meal conversations I had with the cooks. Overall, this was a great dinner spot and a wonderful way to finish off my visit to Portland.

Server was wonderful! The room we were put in was closed off from rest of restaurant so we felt pretty isolated and it was extremely quiet with the two other tables seated there so it felt like they could hear all of our conversations. Needed music or something? Food was excellent .

Great food. Wonderful service. Cute ambiance back on the back patio, and a little more elbow room than can be found inside the restaurant.

Extremely welcoming and attentive service. Everything on the menu sounded amazing so the tough part is deciding your order. We will definitely be back.
