Tapas Revolution is in Grand Central Station in Birmingham.

Their food philosophy comes straight from the heart of Spain, where the vibrant and and dynamic street culture of cities like Madrid has inspired this chain to bring those regional flavours abroad.

With Spaniards behind the menu, you can expect all of the traditional spread of picoteo, carne, pescado, charcuterie and begetables to create a mouthwatering array of tapas dishes. Dessert comes in the form of Spain's famous Churros, made with the same techniques and a heavenly dose of sweet cinnamon, sugar and chocolate dipping sauce. Enjoy some post-siesta drinks with the chefs personal blend of Sangria, try one of their special cocktails or survey their specialist Gins.

We thought that the balance of the meals could be reviewed, for example there was lots of bread but only 2 tiny pots of oil/balsamic and aoili. Also we each ordered the half a chicken, which was extremely tasty, however it was just loads of chicken and nothing else, we thought maybe halve the amount of chicken and have a number of additional sides to choose from, some roasties and broccoli would have been nice, and at over £16 per person would have been better value. Very pleasant staff.

There were uncleared, messy tables on arrival. There was my party (three of us) and then a few other tables taken the entire time we were there and yet some tables still hadn't been cleared when we left. They tried to give us an opened bottle of wine which we pointed out how the level looked a bit low as he was about to poor - it felt like they knew it was already open, if not they should have known. They didn't ask us how our food was, one dish didn't arrive at all. They didn't offer us pudding or coffee and seemed more bothered about clearing up and getting us out before closing time. They gave and charged us for the wrong bottle of wine so had to change that on the bill. Yet another restaurant that automatically adds a service charge to the menu, which was removed when we asked. Very disappointing. Staff member was very friendly and apologetic for the issues and we did enjoy the food but didn't seem good value for money.

We didn’t stay. The first five things we asked for were the available so we left. No alcohol free beer, no pork belly, no seafoood paella. Only alcohol free cocktails full of sugar. Gave up and went somewhere else.

The service was atrocious from the moment we walked in. We waited over 15 minutes for someone to take our order, even then we had to catch someones attention to come over. The staff were not friendly or attentive in any way at all, in fact they made you feel like you were a burden being there. The food was mediocre to be honest, nothing special. Not once did anyone come over to check if we were OK or ask if we needed anything. Once we had finished eating, no one came over to collect our plates & clear the tables. We waited a good 20 - 25 minutes before we had to signal for someone to come over even then staff were reluctant to come over. We asked for the bill and I mentioned I had a 20% off voucher from your website. The staff member said oh well I don't know anything about that and walked off saying she would speak to the manager. Then came back with the bill but wanted to take a screenshot of my voucher code. So had to go and take the 20% off and return with a new bill. One her return, I saw a service charge of 12.5% had been automatically added. I asked for it to be removed, I was asked why and I informed her about the atrocious service we had that evening. There was no apology at all. She just took our payment and went. I will not be returning to this restaurant and will not be recommending it either.

The food was average. We ordered 2 dine for deals however the waiter and waitress didn’t know which plate was for which deal when bringing them out, they told us all to share which wasn’t the plan. All plates came out slowly and separately to and some were cold so we couldn’t eat them all together. A person in our party didn’t even get served their meal until along time after we had finished ours, which then left them to eat on their own. Very expensive for such a slow disappointing service. Not to mention the service charge of £16 added on in small print that we didn’t notice until we had paid the bill. We wouldn’t recommend or go again, plenty of other places to eat in Birmingham.

When shown to the table the staff were very friendly. I ordered a bottle of still water while I waited for my friends to arrive. Friends drinks arrived okay but no sparkling water available. Once we had chosen our food and started ordering we were told there were no chicken wings. We asked what else was not available. The waiter went to find out but never came back with an answer. No Potatas Bravas but we could have fries with the sauce. We placed our order. The fries turned up first - just warm. There was then a long delay before the other elements minus the meatballs turned up. The food was only just warm, the paella had two prawns on it and not a lot of other seafood and the rice was stuck together like uncle bens from a packet - tasted like it too. When we asked for the bill and told them the meatballs had not arrived he said they had realised these had gone to another table but they had not replaced them or apologised to us. We told them to make sure they were removed from the bill. They removed the service charge and the meatballs but then we had to get up to pay as no one returned to the table for payment. The restaurant was not even busy - 4 to 5 tables of people The supervisor stood by and watched with no comment or apology. I will not be returning as the service and food was shocking. Such a shame as I was really looking forward to it.

Service was very poor. We were waiting 20 minutes to be asked what we would like to eat and drink and that was only because we got up and walked out. Staff were just chatting. Someone brought food to us after being there one minute. We told them that the food was not ours, so they just put it back on the pass rather than to the right table. It was there a while.

Absolutely dreadful. Food was unbelievably bad.A complete rip off. Things on the menu were unavailable, but we were not told. We were served the wrong wine, and the staff had no clue what they were doing. Spain would be horrified that this chain were calling themselves a Tapas restaurant. Avoid at all costs.
