A 16-foot Buddha, which floats above a reflecting pool filled with Japanese carp, presides over the scene at Tao. A favorite destination for celebrities and athletes, this Pan Asian restaurant specializes in authentic Hong Kong Chinese, Japanese and Thai cuisines. Tao has three levels of dining including the prized "Skybox" which offers views of this former movie theater unparalleled in New York. In addition to its 300 seats, Tao includes a sushi bar, lounge and two bars at which to enjoy the food and the show. Appetizers range from $8 - $18; Entrees: $16 -$39.     Tao will always be a vibe but I prefer the Downtown location. The staff is much more polite and there’s more space.

    Food was amazing, atmosphere was a sexy club vibe, great music. Server and bartenders were friendly and attentive. Hostess staff not very friendly. Checked in early for our 8:15 reservation and was told to wait in the very crowded lounge. Had to go up to hostess stand twice to check on status of table. Didn’t end up getting seated until close to 9pm.

    Waited for over 50 mins after our booking time in a packed and overcrowded bar. Clearly had massively overbooked restaurant. Once sat down, it was great.

    Cool space but the transactional nature makes it not so great. They really move you including removing food you are still eating. Our waiter thou was excellent. Food was good but not great. More flavor please

    Ambient and service was top notch. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. The only con I can think of is the food quality vs its price. The food was not bad, I say it was decent. But not to the point of high quality. Thus it’s a bit over priced. This place is a very good entry point for anyone that never had Asian food before and wanted to try it for first time. It has a variety of dishes.
