Designed by Rockwell Group, TAO Downtown offers a distinct sense of arrival and discovery and is the first TAO venue where guests descend into a multi-level space. The subterranean restaurant, located in the heart of Chelsea, is intended to look and feel as if it has been there for decades and only unearthed recently to reveal the artifacts within. Upon arrival, guests immediately encounter a long corridor with a dragon scale patterned screen and Chinese calligraphy murals mounted on weathered brick walls.

    I had a valentines package. Had to ask for champagne i prepaid and never received the chocolates i prepaid. Over rated all of Taos

    It was a great experience! The DJ was awesome. I do suggest having the menu specify what items are cooked in shellfish. My waiter was awesome and verified all items for my sister and I as we have a deathly allergy. Specifying the items would increase the turn around for the order process as I felt bad having to constantly re-choose something and taking longer.

    As someone that comes here about once or twice every other month. The service is always stellar and the food was sensational! Val and team are amazing and I will continue to give a 5star review. Can’t wait to get back!!

    We had a great meal and excellent service! Just as good as I remember from the last time I dined at Tao ten years ago. I was pleasantly surprised that the quality and fun atmosphere have not changed. Will definitely be back. Thank you!

    Food was good, not great. We felt rushed even though we asked the waitress to course our order out. The crowd was not what it used to be. Definitely not a hot spot anymore.
