They have a gluten free menu but no dedicated fryer. Small place but there is a lot of history regarding the building. It also offers hotel services. Food was hearty and good!

We have been here a few times before and had a great experience. Unfortunately this time it took an hour to get our food, then it was cold. They did compensate us with free dessert but ww were very disappointed overall. We try to eat there whenever we are in the area but after this last experience we will not.

We loved the historic location and ambiance of the Tavern. Our food was hit or miss. Some members of our party had excellent food while others it was OK and relatively cold. For those it was disappointing.

I love the history of this restaurant! You feel it before you walk through the door. I just wish the food was better. My shrimp and grits were the best thing our party had. The pulled pork, steak, and chicken left much to be desired, and the fried green tomatoes were doughy. I hope this restaurant improves since it is such a neat, historical place to stop!

Dining at the Old Talbot Tavern was a treat! We had a very competent and friendly server. Food was perfectly prepared and served hot. Ambience was good if a bit noisy. Overall a very pleasant experience. I plan to return in the future.

Their fried catfish is close to perfect. You only get one piece but it's adequate. Our only quibble with Talbot Tavern's catfish dinner is that there are no hush puppies on the menu.

Thanks for the review, Dave! We appreciate the suggestion of the hush puppies and will look into that. Hope you will join us again soon!
