Sushi Yūgen offers an authentic omakase experience, crafted by Head Chef Kyohei Igarashi, who brings expertise from Tokyo, mastering both kaiseki and sushi, including leading a Michelin-starred omakase counter.

Our restaurant features two dining experiences: an 8-seat Chef’s counter (Wed-Sat) and a 12-seat main sushi counter (Mon-Sat), each with unique menus.

Located in Toronto’s financial district, Sushi Yūgen embraces Japanese minimalism and wabi-sabi, celebrating beauty in imperfection and nature’s cycles. Our name, Yūgen, signifies ‘profound mystery and beauty,’ reflecting our philosophy.

Our Chef's Counter with Head Chef Kyohei Igarashi is available for dinner only at $275 per guest plus 18% gratuity & tax for parties of 4 and under and 20% gratuity & tax for party of 5 or more (Wednesday to Saturday).

    Great experience, blue shrimp, uni and Toro were our favorite. We took two sake pairings. The only constructive feedback is that with the pairing, the meal and everything's goes to fast in 60 minutes. Despite that, we loved it

    This was my second time there and they didn’t disappoint. When I was there for first time, I made a mental note to return with my son who is a huge fan of sushi. The menu was exquisite as the first time but unlike me, my son has a more refined palate for sushi pieces, and he was marvelled by the quality of each bite. He quickly complimented the rice as the key difference that makes this place a Michelin worthy restaurant. He also pointed out the delicates notes of the wasabi (which he quickly recognized as the real wasabi root and not the European horseradish paste commonly used in most sushi places), and even details like the gorgeous boxes where they store the sushi nori or the uri, or the quality of the knives. Suffice to say he was pleased and impressed so was I enjoying the sushi that melts in your mouth. I can’t recommend this place enough, it is a no brainer and we are very lucky to have this level of restaurant in Toronto.

    Overall great experience! Chef was very well educated and explained thoroughly each piece. Really enjoyed all of the pieces, overall professionalism of the restaurant could be a bit better.

    I enjoyed the omakase experience at Sushi Yugen. I received a warm welcome and the customer service was impeccable. The fish was fresh and delicate, the side dishes / appetizers were tasty and the pacing was great. Good value as well.

    Kindly adjusted omakase sushi pieces swapping ingredients where possible and aburi approach where appropriate for pregnant wife. Professional and courteous staff.
