Since its opening in 1974, prime steaks and martinis have never gone out of style at this Palo Alto institution. The atmosphere is very clubby with fireplaces, dark wood, sports memorabilia and plush leather booths tucked into the many nooks throughout the dining room. Famous for their slow-roasted prime rib & hand-cut U.S.D.A Prime Steaks, they also offer fresh seafood, cold water lobster tail & succulent shellfish. The 20 oz. Bone-In Rib eye Steak is the Boss’ Favorite while the Double Cut Filet Mignon runs a close second. Sundance is respected for serving the best food money can buy coupled with value & simplicity – a welcome relief for serious food & steak aficionados. Our experience tonight on Christmas Eve was outstanding! We haven’t had service and food this amazing in years! Tanner helped with the booking by finding an earlier time. The hostesses were friendly and looked so polished on this special occasion. Then Tommy our waiter was next level pro. He was sheer perfection. The other table staff were attentive and amazing. We have found our new special occasion spot.

Besides the food being the best around…prime rib truly melts in your mouth …the employees there are such great human beings! This was my mom's and my favorite restaurant. This was my first time dining without her. But instead of a sad night, my waiter, Ashely, and the staff went above and beyond for me when I came in on one of their busiest nights to honor my late mother and best friend. The compassion and kindness Ashely and her manager Peter showed me was unbelievable!! They are wonderful human beings and showed me that there are still wonderful people in the world.

Excellent choice of American Dishes with a focus on steaks and prime ribs. Exciting, clubby and busy atmosphere with highly experienced waiters providing excellent service. Top notch seafood food options offered along with the their beef specialties. Lunch menu contains the best roast beef sandwich I have ever experienced.

Unsatisfactory reception and service. Salad & Steak ok - sides need some more flavor. Surprisingly unsatisfactory reception - Maître D’ completely ignored us and was more occupied talking with the hostesses about balancing table workload than being welcoming. He and the hostesses left us standing without update for a long time. Choice of seating area is either a room with highly uncomfortable booths that is way too dark; or high top tables with TV screens. Disappointing.

We've been going to Sundance for many years. It is a great place for special occasions as well as a place to have a great meal. The waiters are warm and friendly and the service is excellent. If you like steak, lobster or prime-rib this is the place for you. The clam chowder is spectacularly good as is my favorite, the wedge salad. The bread is always served warm and they make a superb bloody mary. The food is so good that it is no wonder that it is hard to find a place to park! If you haven't been there you are missing a peninsula treasure.

Perfect experience! Great old-school steakhouse with amazing meats and FABULOUS fish options! I had the swordfish and it was spectacular. My friend had the scallops which she said were also delicious (and don't miss the mashed potatoes). Our waiter (Jeff) was happy, engaged, always there when we needed him and full of holiday cheer! Love this place -- an icon in the community. AND packed so make reservations and eat early if you can!
