State of Grace is a coastal, South Texas neighborhood restaurant in the refurbished Lamar-River Oaks Shopping Center. Elegant but casual, its elevated comfort food by executive chef Bobby Matos is executed at the highest level in a welcoming, beautiful space. The jubilant medley of old favorites played with new spice, accent, and freshness lends itself to southern, American, Latin, Gulf Coast, German and Asian influences. Chef-owner Ford Fry’s first venture outside of Atlanta, State of Grace is located in the neighborhood where Ford grew up and nods to his childhood memories fused with Houston’s evolution into a melting pot of cultures and cuisines.

Amazing dining experience from check in until we left. I think we caught them at a slower time, so we were really able to enjoy ourselves.

I don’t know how I have never eaten there but I am so glad I decided to try this place. Environment is warm. The service was attentive. The food was delicious. Just go.

There was only one bartender who was also covering as barista for Sunday brunch. We were told by our server, who was awesome by the way, to be patient because the bartender was handling both drinks and coffee drinks, when we asked why our first round of drinks took so long. Every round of drinks took a very long time and was pretty frustrating.
