South Block is a North-Carolina inspired BBQ hall and brewery on the edge of Mission, in Calgary. Upstairs you’ll find a large dining room, 20-seat bar, and a year-round indoor/outdoor beer garden. Downstairs hosts our stage, live music hall, and brewerey – where we brew our entire draft lineup from classic staples like our Pilsner, Lager, and IPAs, to our unique seasonal Peach Bourbon Ale and Mango Wheat Ale.

Behind the bar, we run a hand-crafted cocktail program and offer a whiskey list of over 200 varietals, including American, Canadian, Irish, Scottish, and Japanese whiskeys.

However, the biggest draw has to be our slow-smoked barbecue menu. Inspired by the flavours of North Carolina, our team arrives early every morning to smoke our famous brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and more for up to 14 hours.

Great service, good food but little selection of food & Uber amount of selection for drinks. Ordering shareable more expensive than ordering an entree. Noise level so loud could not converse with our guests- frustrating! Love Bullies were great. The other issue is that they have 2 sets of doors but did not close the inner doors, do every time someone came in the door the freezing cold air went right to our table. The 4 of us were freezing.

My wife and I had our anniversary dinner there and had a great experience, we visit South Block every time we are in Calgary and are never disappointed. The brisket, corn and sandwiches are amazing!!! Thanks again for treating us so well

We were sat at an excellent table immediately upon arriving. Server took our drink oder very quickly. ordered food quickly and it arrived fast. There were a few items on the menu that were sold out. Food was very good.

Excellent food, drinks, service and vibe. Hint, check the spice level on the meat. The macaroni cheese brisket and my brisket sandwich were pretty spicy however flavours were awesome.

The experience is great at this restaurant. The food is mainly good. I had burnt ends which were delicious. Corn bread is good. The dill pickle potato salad was not good. No salt and no flavour. Don’t recommend that side.

Very lovely experience of some authentic Canadian style BBQ! Friendly staff and amazing atmosphere to really make you feel at home, even as a tourist! Definitely recommend and will 100% be returning in the near future when we move to Calgary permanently!

The food was fantastic and good value, will definitely be coming back to try other things. Lots of selection for beer, but found it to be mediocre. Huge selection of whiskeys.
