We went Christmas Eve, so there was a set menu. The apps were good, it was chicken pate and a curry chicken dip with sourdough bread. These were delicious, and the squash soup was really good with a chili oil on top. The mains though, were overcooked and dry - there was a beef tenderloin and a pork entree. I thought the pork was better but the sauces on either plate couldn't cover the dryness of the meat.

Was only offered a set meal with no warning – we probably wouldn't have booked had we known this was the case. Food was very underwhelming and extremely bad value given the poor quality of the meal (in particular the main dish).

Just a fantastic experience end-to-end. Like to think I’ve been to many nice restaurants and I’d put Sikwa up there with any of them. Outstanding food, great drinks, and most importantly, world class service. Our waiter made our night with perfect recommendations, and on-the-house tastings - such genuine excitement about the food and Costa Rican heritage. A perfect first meal in Costa Rica that will be impossible to top!

The experience was overrated, for the price and the hype you would expect good service. We were attracted by the concept but they did not deliver. Starting from the uncomfortable sitting and the napkins that kept slipping. Followed by the time it took to take the order, the lack of follow up from the service and overly acidic food. There are several other restaurants in Costa Rica that don't hold a spot in the top 50 that deliver better service and food. We have visited Pujol and Leo so when comparing the experience at Sikwa it was a disappointment.

If you’re going to visit one restaurant in San Jose, make it Sikwa. I go every time in in the city, and it’s always a highlight. Try the bone marrow (tuétano).
