Shack-Fuyu, from the team behind Bone Daddies and Flesh & Buns, is located in the heart of Soho. Inspired by Japanese Yoshoku cuisine, the Western-influenced cooking style popular in Japan, Shack-Fuyu serves a regularly changing menu designed for sharing, as well as a lunchtime menu comprising a range of filled bao buns and side dishes. But currently offering a reduced menu for outdoor seating

We were recommended this place by friends who have visited often when in London. We were not disappointed! Absolutely first class! We ordered the taster menu and it was superb. The shiitake mushrooms so ‘meaty’ and bursting with flavour. The seabass ceviche was the highlight for me, absolutely delightful. Salmon tacos were really fresh and light. The prawn toast was like nothing I’d had before and melted in the mouth. Crispy yet light katsu chicken and curry sauce combined with uber-tasty miso aubergine and roasted peppers. So so good. To finish we had the toast and ice cream which topped off the evening amazingly. Oh, and try the frozen margarita…. Wowzer!!

The food was absolutely exceptional. Highlights for us were the miso aubergine - melt in the mouth and full of flavour as the beef fillet - wow this was the best steak we'd ever eaten, the flavour was incredible and it was cooked to perfection. The Yuzu margarita was fantastic too. We had the dessert to finish, this was nice too. The service was a little slow, but the wait staff were incredibly busy and the food was so good that we didn't mind. It was super noisy in the restaurant due to its busyness.

Our server was amazing! They were very attentive and personable - I didn't catch their name but they did mention they were Columbian, so just wanted to give a big shout out! Thanks for making our evening so enjoyable. I was anxious about booking 'Counter' seats at first but they are really great - we had a spot near the door so we ended up people watching. Great experience overall and I highly recommend the tasting menu as we both walked away with full stomachs and a box of food for our lunch the next day.
