Senia invites you to share well-crafted drinks and delicious food in a comfortable, convivial environment. We celebrate Hawaii’s abundance of beautiful ingredients and showcase the delectable results of diverse cultures and multi-discipline culinary training coming together.

Senia's founding Chef/Owner, Anthony Rush, has decades of culinary experience at the two and three Michelin-star level. Chef Rush applies his abundant and extraordinary talents to two different menus. Our à la carte menu highlights refined casual dishes, making Senia a great neighborhood restaurant. Our tasting menu, offered on Friday and Saturday nights at our Chefs’ Counter, is an exclusive and beautiful gastronomic experience that highlights incredible ingredients and exceptional technique.

Senia’s name is a play on the word “xenia”, the ancient Greek ideology of hospitality where strangers and friends alike were treated with the same regard. It is in that spirit that we welcome you to join us.

Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Anthony Rush

From the OpenTable editors: Hawaiian ingredients meet global recipes at this thrilling restaurant from James Beard-nominated chef Anthony Rush and his wife and co-owner Katherine Nomura. The a la carte menu is top-notch on any night, but go for the tasting menu that won the Hale ‘Aina Award for Hawaiʻi's best tasting menu when you want to celebrate. You might find dishes like Kona kampachi with charred Asian pear or venison tartare with housemade naan, which shine in the elegant dining room with exposed brick walls and curved black-leather banquettes.

Hadn't been here in over half a year. Furniture has been rearranged to its format from about 2 years ago. We got a booth which was nice. Service was warm and attentive; food was excellent. Must come back here soon.

Truly incredible meal! Having eaten at Per Se and other high end culinary experiences around the country, this is a gem. Chef Rush definitely has a lock on great food and service in Hawai’i.

The food was delicious, imaginative and one of a kind. Our guests who have lived here for generations had no idea about this restaurant. The entire staff were passionate about the exquisite food. Very creative presentations. We will be back.

I selected a 2020 Domaine Méo-Camuzet, Vosne-Romanée ($335). A rich, redolent wine, full of red fruit … earthy, floral and spicy in the best way, an excellent start. Appetizers: Duck Liver Parfait ($12), Maui Nui Venison Tartare ($34), and Roasted Bone Marrow ($34). Liver mousse was piped onto grilled bread, with dollops of blackberry jam and stems of parsley atop. Rich and creamy; almost like a luxurious PBJ on toast. The venison tartare came with naan bread and was surrounded by toasted macadamia nuts. The venison was mixed with curry and covered with some kind of jellied skin, decorated with herbs and edible flowers. The curry flavoring almost overpowered the venison … It was delicious, but I wanted more of the gaminess of the venison. The marrow came with 4 pieces of Hawaiian sweet rolls, 3 salts, and dishes of piccalilli and oxtail marmalade. The marrow wasn’t split along the bone; it was sitting in an unroasted(?) bone acting as a holder. The piccalilli and the oxtail marmalade had very strong flavors. If used in excess, they would overpower the delicate marrow. All delicious but I wanted the marrow to play a more prominent role. The Maple Leaf Farms Confit Duck ($110) and the Braised Okra ($12) were our shared entrée. The duck was tender and whitish in coloration; it almost didn’t seem like duck. Sitting in a saffron jus, it was topped with a piece of foie gras, plum and sumac chutney and micro greens. This is a fabulous dish, and we were so full of the appetizers, we ended up taking half of it home. The braised okra was more baked than braised, whole pieces of okra in a San Marzano tomato sauce with gremolata and oregano … like a gratin. I liked it; my food partner did not. We ended our meal by sharing a Yuzu Tart ($18) and a cup of Guatemalan coffee ($5) for me. The tart was rich and reminded me of key lime pie. We enjoyed our meal and time at Senia. We’re happy to see it remain one of the successes in downtown Honolulu. Highly recommended!

We have been here numerous times, and the food is getting better and better every visit - and it had been excellent at the beginning. My husband loved the falafel fries, deer tartare, gnocchi (amazing😋), I had hamachi crudo and agnolotti; very good. We shared the bavarois, and that was all we could eat. Service was impeccable, thank you Senia team.

Everything about this experience was amazing. We were seated at the 8 seat chef’s counter and had the opportunity to observe the staff meticulously prepare the 8 course tasting menu. The kitchen is quite small, but the amount of preparation that had preceded the service was amazing. The menu was a nice blend of a playful take of the chef’s British background and local ingredients. Some of the dishes like the Foie Gras were sublime. The wine pairing featured some unusual choices that worked really well with the dishes. Highly recommended.
