Why they're an Icon

From the OpenTable editors: Regulars keep swinging back to Selden Standard for small plates and craft cocktails in a cool industrial space that USA Today named one of the best restaurants of 2024. Local and seasonal produce shows up in dishes like charred octopus from the woodfired oven and seasonal fresh pastas like sweet corn agnolotti. Catch the show at the chef’s counter or hang in the back patio lined with flower murals.

You cannot go wrong dining at Selden Standard. We have been dining here since they opened and the experience is as good or better than the day they opened. Everything from the wine list to the deserts are among the best in Detroit.

Food was absolutely delicious. Fresh, marvelous flavors and beautifully presented. Not as impressed with their craft cocktail menu but they have a large choice of spirits. Service was great. Highly recommend!

reservations don’t guarentee you a seat here. it’s more of a “book your time that you want to come and wait 40min for a table to be ready” and when you simply ask the hostess what the wait time looks like after your first 20min of waiting, they give you a bad attitude about it as if it’s your fault. good food doesn’t get to be enjoyed when there’s already a bad taste in your mouth before sitting down.

Needed a pause between work and going home… This was the perfect solution… Sat near the grillmaster by the wood-burning grill and stove and the ambience was incredible! Wait Staff is very knowledgeable, and made the dinner experience absolutely everything!

Seldan Standard is one of our favorite dining spots. Our dinner experience was wonderful. Our meal, as always, was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the Blackend Walleye, which was exceptional and beautifully complimented by the Roasted Carrots and Sweet Potato Agnolotti. The service we received was also outstanding.
