Why they're an Icon

From the OpenTable editors: Regulars keep swinging back to Selden Standard for small plates and craft cocktails in a cool industrial space that USA Today named one of the best restaurants of 2024. Local and seasonal produce shows up in dishes like charred octopus from the woodfired oven and seasonal fresh pastas like sweet corn agnolotti. Catch the show at the chef’s counter or hang in the back patio lined with flower murals.

Biodynamic winemaker Bàrbara Mesquida Mora will be traveling from her vineyards on the island of Mallorca to join us for a pairing dinner featuring five of her wines (and a few others, just for fun). Chef Andy will prepare six courses to match. Bàrbara is a pioneer in regenerative farming on the island, and after leaving her family business to strike out on her own, she has come to tend several parcels of vines including both indigenous and international grape varieties. Her wines are elegant and food-friendly, and we're delighted to welcome her to Detroit. We hope you'll join us!

Absolutely knocked it out of the park again hosting a business dinner. Selden Standard never disappoints. From pre dinner cocktails at the bar drinking “Cassidy’s Creation” (her take on an Old Fashioned which was incredible) to the appetizers and main dinner. The flavors of each dish were uniquely different and our entire table (of 4) loved them all. Detroit’s “Jewel” for exceptional dining.

The veggies plates were tasty. The meats were as well but ribs were barely warm. The meat plates were pricy for amount served. Our server was friendly but seemed to be overloaded. It is a pleasant venue. Bring a fat wallet.

Don’t recommend the communal table, noisy and cramped, otherwise fantastic.
