Why they're an Icon

From the OpenTable editors: Regulars keep swinging back to Selden Standard for small plates and craft cocktails in a cool industrial space that USA Today named one of the best restaurants of 2024. Local and seasonal produce shows up in dishes like charred octopus from the woodfired oven and seasonal fresh pastas like sweet corn agnolotti. Catch the show at the chef’s counter or hang in the back patio lined with flower murals.

Another great meal at Selden. Everything is top notch. Pork rib was loco. Same with the duck breast and the octopus.

Been coming here for years, don’t live here anymore but anytime I’m back visiting, this is top of my list to visit. Always exceeds expectations. Love the chefs counter. Agnolotti is always a must. Whatever the seasonal offering is.

Drinks were good, and relatively unique. 7/10 Sides were small, but good. 7/10 Short rib was fatty and very small for the price. 5/10 Blackened Walleye was good. Cooked well and just the right texture. Taste was there, but there was an abundance of the menu listed “chow chow” which seemed to be pickled veggies. 8/10 Salmon was soft and a weird texture. Taste did not make up for it and was not deboned properly. 3/10 Market farm raised beef was good. Cooked to order and dressed interestingly with green olives, had a great taste and the cut of beef was satisfactory. 8/10 Atmosphere was great. Service was great. Expectations were higher than the resulting amount and quality of food received.

We had a wonderful dinner at Selden Standard. Ahsley our waitress was very attentive as were the servers who brought out each dish. Explaining what each one was and confirming that there was none of the allergy items I had mention. The food was delicious and I loved the small plates so that we could try everything. Will definitley be back.

Food was great, we had the beef tartare, halloumi, chittara and the duck. The chittara or pasta was oaky, but everything else was great.
