Why they're an Icon

From the OpenTable editors: Regulars keep swinging back to Selden Standard for small plates and craft cocktails in a cool industrial space that USA Today named one of the best restaurants of 2024. Local and seasonal produce shows up in dishes like charred octopus from the woodfired oven and seasonal fresh pastas like sweet corn agnolotti. Catch the show at the chef’s counter or hang in the back patio lined with flower murals.

The hostesses were accommodating and communicative. The wait staff was welcoming and informative. The duck with mole blanco was wonderful and unique. The grilled haloumi was perfectly balanced between sweet, salty, and savory. The squash cheesecake was the perfect mixture of sharp, sweet, and creamy with delicious accents of toasted wheat. Overall, a first class dining experience.

We were seated at a high top for 2 people that overlooked the kitchen. My wife and I are average sized humans and we felt the table was a little cramped for shared plates, but this was the only negative thing to say about our evening. The service was outstanding with napkins, plates, and cutlery replaced with each course. The restaurant was filled with conversation and some fun music, about what you would expect with shared plates being the main theme. The drinks were great, the view from our table was superb. We had a look in on the open fire grill and the stone oven while also being able to watch the bartenders put on a show making cocktails. Food was top notch and came out spaced perfectly. We had the beef tartare, Carrots, octopus, and duck. This was an excellent date night, anniversary meal (if you’re ok with loud) or a great double date, I think 4 people here fits the menu size for their shared plates pretty well.

Wow! Everything we tried was amazing and had such unique flavor. My husband is somewhat picky with sauces, etc. and loved every item we had. Looking forward to coming back and trying some other dishes. We went with the cabbage, potatoes, carrots, salmon and steak. Amazing. All amazing.
