Sasabune is a well known as the best Omakase restaurant in Los Angeles. Omakase means "leave it up to chef". It includes Sashimi, dozen pieces of sushi and a handroll. The guest will experience traditional Japanese dining style with Chef's choice of sushis and their presentations.
Original owner Chef Nobi Kusuhara opened Sasabune in West Los Angeles in 1993 and opened Beverly Hills location in 2013.

First time doing LA-style omakase for all 8 in our group and we were all blown away at the delicate yet complex flavors and textures. No one could agree on which was the best bite, which I think is a good sign. And the food kept coming, so come hungry! I realized that I’ve never had exceptional sushi before, or sake the way sake is supposed to taste.

Omakase. You will not regret it. They will tell you which ones are OK to put soy sauce on, I recommend you take their advice... also even the ones that are Soy Sauce "ok"... maybe don't use it anyway. It's sushi at a whole other level than your usual place that serves mostly rolls... hard to explain, easier to know by experiencing it.

For decades, Sasabune has delivered some of the highest quality in traditional sushi. Through moves, expansions, and closures, the food is as delicious as ever. They are hard to beat for freshness and technique. And although very traditional, that does not mean boring - there is very deft use of flavor, but it is subtle, and the fish is the star of the show. Highlights: they offer both fresh and seawater eel, as well as both Santa Barbara and Hokkaido uni.
