San Laurel is one of the flagship restaurants in Chef José Andrés’ collection at Conrad Los Angeles. Here, he effortlessly combines his signature forward-thinking approach to Spanish cuisine with the gorgeous produce found at Southern California’s year-round farmers’ markets. San Laurel is open daily for breakfast and dinner service.

The restaurant’s interior combines organic, earthy tones and natural wood finishes with richer hues to complement what’s on the plate: the flavors of Spain as seen through a California lens.

Am disappointed with my experience here because I was looking for a new favorite after Otium and Agua Viva closed. The first thing I did upon arrival was inform my server that I had show tickets and limited time. I was advised on how long entrees would take and decided to order before my friend arrived to ensure we would have time to eat at a comfortable pace. My first issue was with the salad. I was told it was considered a tapa size, so I ordered 2. It was not “tapa” size. It could have been easily shared. Then I started noticing that tables seated after me were receiving their food orders while my friend and I were still waiting. It was hard getting any server’s attention to ask about our food. By the time our first entree and side dish arrived we had only 15 min before we had to leave. I was told many orders were put in at the same time which is why our food was delayed. I don’t believe our server. I think she did not put our order in right away because the restaurant was not very full when I ordered. I just asked for the bill. We took a few bites then had everything packed up. The manager came by and said he would “do something for us”. He took 10% off the tab which paid for the tax. We didn’t have any time to really complain. We also didn’t have any time to use the restroom before the show. We rushed over and sat w our expensive dinner under our seat. I can’t say much for the food because most it was eaten a day later, which makes it not worth the money I spent for it. In hindsight I should have just cancelled everything, paid for the salad, and bought a sandwich at the venue.

We got off to a very rough start! We texted the restaurant to inform them , due to CRAZY LA traffic, we were going to be approximately 20 minutes late for our reservation. The response was very off putting. We were told that the 10 minute grace period would be strictly enforced and we would be marked as a no show and put on a waiting list. We arrived in fact 16 minutes late for our 5 o clock reservation. The hostess remained firm in adhering to the policy and was unhelpful and negative. I prevailed upon her to see what she could do. Hesitating to be helpful was unacceptable and there’s a serious issue with training to make guests feel welcome. A second hostess did in fact say that she could make it work, acting as if a big gift was being given. Fortunately the food was so spectacular it made up for a truly inhospitable start. Another issue is the staffing for the bar. We ordered 3 cocktails. After quite a long wait only 2 showed up. Another ten minutes at least went by for us to be informed that there was an issue with one if the ingredients in the third cocktail. The server did agree to comp the drink. The hostess issue and bar service prevent me from giving an overall good review despite the fabulous food and beautiful setting and view.

It may not be my taste so I can't really give it a higher rating. All the dishes were extremely small, so that two people spent more than $300, just like eating an appetizer

Our server, Johny was amazing. They close their kitchen at 2 PM promptly so you have to order prior to that time.

We had theatre tickets which we told the hostess and server. Even with a reservation had to wait 15 minutes for a table. Waitress was not watching the time on serving us and we barely made it to the theatre on time.

Great experience in every way. Went for lunch and had the prix fixed tasting menu. Great way to sample the menu and priced fairly. Small portions but enough food. Sea bass and fried chicken were outstanding. Loved the multi chocolate mousse dessert. Outstanding service and an outstanding view of the city. Worth the price.

Third time at San Laurel, and the same excellence: food, service, atmosphere. We dined on appetizers, all creative and delicious: acorn squash, asparagus with romesco, pan con tomate, “mac ‘n cheese”. Two lovely Spanish whites. Johnny is a superb waiter, with his equally fine assistant, Miguel. Many thanks!

Had a reservation, was there on time, was made to wait 15 minutes. Waiter told us our order was going to take 35 minutes when we got our order it was the wrong order, and we had to wait another 20 minutes. The macaroni and mushroom side orders, pretty bland and the cheesecake for dessert around $20 something with an additive of a truffle honey for another $30. So this is a $50 dessert, it was bland and the honey just tastes like regular old honey. The meal was over $400 and just did not have the value we expected. Very disappointing.
