Welcome to Rusticucina, where locally sourced ingredients, seasonal dishes and a warm ambiance reign supreme. We are named to reflect the merging of two cultures; American and Sicilian, since our owners are straight out of a small town in Sicily. We invite neighborhood dwellers and visitors to experience our farm-to-neighborhood restaurant unlike any other. Aperitivo, a traditional Italian-style happy hour, leads the way—think sensational small bites, Aperol Spritzes, Negronis and Limoncello. We also offer a full bar and carefully curated craft cocktails, along with an impressive beer and wine list. Our food menu, boasts hearty, rustic cuisine, with pasta made in-house, from scratch, as well palate-pleasing entrees and a slate of pizzas and flat breads. Our tableside service offers a one-of-a-kind, dedicated experience, and their outdoor space is the perfect landing spot for dog lovers and sun worshipers. We even offer a pet menu for furry guests.

From the moment you walk in you feel the warmth of the place. The young man at the hostess stand was great, he acknowledged us as soon as we checked in and kept updating us regarding our seating. Our server Julia was amazing, kept checking in on us and just all around a pleasure. I didn’t particularly like my pasta and when I let Julia know she immediately apologized. Ocean, who is the manager came over to ask what was wrong, I let her know it was watery and didn’t have much short rib. She apologized and returned with a remake and extra short rib. I was so surprised because I wasn’t expecting that. I have to say the customer service here is top tier. Our calamari was yummy and the drinks are amazing. Thanks to the team and their service I will definitely be back. Thank you all for an amazing dinner experience.

The restaurant is beautiful and the service was great! My boyfriend and I shared the crispy burrata, Caesar salad, limoncello cake, and tiramisu which were all lovely. My pasta dish was good but nothing amazing, but my boyfriend loved his choice. The only negative was getting seated at the table directly by the front door. Constant people in and out with the door letting in cold air. I’m sure of we had been seated elsewhere, the night would have been top notch.

Highly recommend this place!! The caesar salad isn’t worth it, there are better appetizers on the menu. The stuffed zucchini blossoms are a must and the vodka pasta was amazing.

Delicious pasta and soup, very attentive and accommodating service, and comfortable ambience. The four of us all enjoyed this restaurant immensely and would definitely highly recommend it.

It was a quiet night when we were there so I understand it can be much louder than that night. The food was outstanding the service was great and we plan to go back.

Food was great quality but both entrees were served room temperature. It took about 30 minutes between the entree service and receiving dessert and the restaurant was about 1/4 full. We will try again,

We LOVE this place, but they don’t have pizza, flatbreads or a kids option menu!!?! Bring on some pizza type options especially since it’s kindof family friendly too.

The staff were absolutely phenomenal! I was a little late for my reservation , but my table was still available. The place looks great, the food was exceptional. The only con I would say is the added shrimp protein option only had 2 shrimp 🍤. A bit of a letdown for an additional $10. Again, staff were so great!

We tried out this place as part of San Diego Restaurant Week. The food was great, and we'd definitely order that meal again. A few things downgraded the overall experience for us. First, we got seated right by the front door and had people waiting for tables repeatedly encroaching on our space. This was especially annoying since when we arrived for our reserved time we were asked to wait outside until our table was ready. Unfortunately that rule was not consistently applied. Second, parking is a bit of a challenge. After driving around a bit to find a space on the street we gave up and went to a paid lot -- $20 for two hours. Finally, it was pretty loud (I rated it energetic, but not in a good way), making it hard to have a couple's conversation. However, if you live in the area (we don't) and are within walking distance, this is a good option for very good Italian fare.
