Welcome to Rusticucina, where locally sourced ingredients, seasonal dishes and a warm ambiance reign supreme. We are named to reflect the merging of two cultures; American and Sicilian, since our owners are straight out of a small town in Sicily. We invite neighborhood dwellers and visitors to experience our farm-to-neighborhood restaurant unlike any other. Aperitivo, a traditional Italian-style happy hour, leads the way—think sensational small bites, Aperol Spritzes, Negronis and Limoncello. The servers were excellent. The pasta meals were lacking. The Cacio e Pepe was too dry and not anything like it was supposed to be. It needed more liquid to make it creamy. The other pasta was just ok. It was supposed to have eggplant, but it was almost non existent. It had only a few very small pieces. The Cheese Wheel meal was excellent! I would have that again.

What a wonderful restaurant! We ended up in San Diego after being evacuated from LA due to the fires. The servers were so sweet and gave us a dessert on the house to make us feel a little better. Service and food was fantastic! We’ll be back!

It was very average. The toast seemed to come out of a box. The entrees were overdone with cream. The waitress wasn’t knowledgeable.

My husband ordered lasagna and it was very good, with béchamel instead of ricotta cheese. I ordered the salmon with pistachio sauce. The salmon was overcooked and extremely dry with barely any pistachio flavor. The side dish was brussels sprouts with dried figs; the sprouts and sauce were very nice, but the figs had the stems still attached! Service was excellent.
