Rumi's Kitchen first opened more than a decade ago in Atlanta, the result of years of development by Chef / Owner Ali Mesghali. Showcasing the flavors of Iran -- fresh herbs, kabobs cooked over an open-fire grill -- quickly won loyal guests at the original location in Sandy Springs, GA and set us on pace to open our first restaurant outside of Georgia in 2020. Rumi was a 13th-century Persian poet whose words and life teach us how to find inner peace, happiness and love. We invite you to Rumi’s Kitchen where fresh, healthy food and attentive Persian hospitality await you.

Rumi’s Kitchen overall was delicious. Definitely get their wings as an appetizer. We got the grilled shrimp & although delicious you only get 2 pieces which we felt was underwhelming. For mains I got the chicken barg which was so flavorful, warm, & hearty. The meat was super tender & the rice was a great complement. My boyfriend got the rack of lamp & also loved it. For desert I got the baklava which wasn’t my favorite I have had better baklava, however my boyfriend got the strawberry cardamom cake & said that was really good. Their drinks are also great & definitely strong, our faves were their play on a Moscow mule with saffron infused liquor!

There was a slight delay with seating the reservations. Based on overhearing the communication between the hostess and other staff, it seemed to be largely due to the inexperience of the waiting staff. However, I attribute most of it due to the holiday, Valentine’s Day. It Can feel a little tight as they’ve maximized the use of all available space to seat patrons, so if you get a little claustrophobic, you may want to consider dining at a time that isn’t busy. Overall great value and great experience, especially for the Washington DC area. The only recommendation I would make to Rumi’s Kitchen would be to broaden your selection of wines by the glass. At the price point of your bottles of wine, it makes it a little difficult for some patrons to commit to making the purchase of a bottle. Thanks for the good time!

Based on the reviews, I was expecting a lot more. I would consider this extremely mediocre Persian food. The rice essentially tasted like butter rice nothing like Persian rice. The kebab was fine, but did not have any traditional Persian flavors. Appetizer was decent and the bread was good, Cocktails were interesting But I definitely would not come back.

Fabulous food and great service. I was so impressed as we arrived it was quite crowded and so our table wasn’t ready. We never complained but the manager stopped by the table to both apologize and sent some additional appetizers to the table. Definitely one of my go to restaurants in DC!

Waited 30 minutes for our table to be ready. The hosts did a good job keeping everyone informed, but the restaurant was packed and many other guests were waiting longer than us to get their tables! As soon as we were sat, our service was prompt, kind, and helpful. The food was delicious! We really appreciated the number of check ins from staff. The only thing that negatively impacted our visit was the fact that we had to wait so long to actually get our seat.
