Welcome to Roy's Ka'anapali! Since opening "the original" Roy's Hawaii Kai in 1988, I have set out to explore "new directions," blending classic European cooking techniques with unique influences of Asia and the Pacific. Guided by the freshest ingredients and my own sense of freedom, the menu is constantly evolving.

The food was great; our waitress wasn’t the best for such a high end restaurant. Had to ask for water several times and my friend asked for a specific vodka and she was supposed to check withe the bartender to see if they had it in stock, but she never got back to us.

Having been to Roy’s in other destinations, this location did not meet expectations. The service was meh but the food lacked flavor. We’ve had amazing meals from Roy’s and heard this location wasn’t favorable but we decided to make our own opinion. Turns out, the advice we were given was correct. Best part of the meal was the appetizer(blackened island ahi). Was looking forward to their signature cocktail (Hawaiian Martini) which was listed online, but apparently can’t be served in Maui. Entrees chosen were the misoyaki butterfish and the grilled au & shrimp duo. The cook on the fish was done nicely but the flavor of the dishes left you desiring more. Very bland compared to our experiences from other Roy’s locations. We’ve had amazing experiences at Roy’s but this location was not it. We tried it, will go elsewhere when we are back.

Food was excellent, but the main course was not hot. Only the plates were hot, the food not. The service was regular.

The renovation was stale and restaurant was very bright. The tuna appetizer was great as always but entrees were not great. Menus printed on paper and just seemed like a restaurant opening for the first time. We have eaten at Roy’s probably 100 times over the past 20 years and this was our first mediocre experience.

We had a fabulous dinner to celebrate a birthday with friends at Roy’s! My husband had been to the original Maui location way back in the 80’s. We had the macadamia crusted ono, the filet, and the grilled Au- all superb! We shared chocolate ganache cake, chocolate toffee mousse cake and ice cream trio and wow! Perfect dinner!

We have been to Roy’s several times and it only gets better with each visit. The food and service from the entire staff is fantastic. It’s really a pleasure to be served by a group that truly cares about each other. Smiles all around from the staff.

Have enjoyed Roy’s in other States. This one was not the same fine dining experience. Over priced for the quality and serving portions. Seated at a table near the bar which was loud.

Took my new fiance to Roy’s to celebrate our new engagement. We landed on Roy’s initially because the menu looked like a good selection and with the prices being so high we assumed the food was of great quality and up to par with culinary standard. We arrived and quickly got sat to a table next to a very rowdy and loud group. I was surprised that the restaurant was mostly vacant at 7:30pm on a Saturday and they chose to put us to the closest table to the larger party. Regardless we ordered two of the cocktails the server had recommended one was a mango honey mojito and the other was a Hawaiian martini. Both drinks lacked balance and quality ingredients. You can tell they use sugary syrups and nothing with fresh juices, it’s not what we’re used to when ordering a $14 cocktail. We recognize we were not sold on Roy’s because of the drinks so we asked the sever for her food recommendations and we went with the ribeye and the macadamia nut crusted ono. The food arrived and I was shocked to see the $65 Ono we ordered was a measly 3inch by 3 inch piece that only had about 2 inches of a crust to the top. The fish was accompanied by a half cup of plain white rice and some of the worst steamed veggies I’ve ever had. Utter shock honestly that they charge $65 for child size bland food. The best thing between the two entrees was the mashed potatoes which is just sad considering we only celebrate an engagement once. The waitress did bring us a cup of house sorbet for our occasion but we did not indulge and we quickly paid the $200 tab and left. We will not be going back to Roy’s. With such pricey items the open kitchen left little to be desired with the cooks wearing nothing suggesting they were actual chefs (t-shirts, backwards trucker hats, ect.) all would have been redeemable had the food been better. Please do better Roy’s.
