   It's been a few years since we have visited , for no reason It's just as nice as it was and our friends from Spain where very impressed Will be going back soon !!!

   Lovely evening at the Royal Oak & the food was absolutely fantastic honestly can’t wait to go back 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ as was the service, can’t recommend enough.

   Came here on Sunday 27/10 as we had been several month’s prior and had a nice meal. Booked for restaurant but upon arrival was directed to a very dirty back room table by a window. It was quite cold, the girl who showed us our table apologised for the mess and proceeded to spray both the table and us with cleaning spray. We ordered our meals through the bar when it came we had no cutlery, and noticed a made up table beside us had some; so we took that. Whilst ordering drinks we discovered that the table next to ours was the one we were booked in for. Obviously the server was confused when taking us to our table. Three of the meals were ok, however the roast turkey dinner was not. The vegetables were rock hard the sea salt and rosemary roasties were just boiled no hint of sea salt or rosemary and thin flavourless gravy. All in all a very disappointing visit

   I had prebooked the meal for family who were visiting us, six of us in all/On arriving the dining room was full apart from one table. There was obviously a large party of people down the centre of the room and the noise from the room was horrendous. I appreciate there were lots of children at this table, half term and all that,,but the noise was horrendous altogether in the room. I requested that we dine in the bar area which we did. Staffing level was appalling, one lady behind the bar and one lady serving the meals,, along with a chap from the kitchen who may have been the chef??I was told there were only these two on duty today!!! We waited 20 minutes to order and then waited for an hour before the food came to the table, by which time we were on second round of drinks and halfway down second bottle of expensive wine!!! The food was lukewarm and the whole meal was a disaster and having paid the bill of £ 173 plus, I am determined never to come here again, in fact I would like a refund for the whole of the cost of the meal.......

   It is a beautiful pub. I booked for the bar and was put in the restaurant,it took a while for our order to be taken, one of the drinks was wrong and when staff told, we thought they would bring the right one, they didn't so had to ask again. Food took while to come but was lovely . The staff are super young which isn't a problem but I don't think they quite understand how to be aware of issues raised or how to deal with them. When wiping tables the crumbs were put onto the floor - again not having that thought process of hygiene and cleanliness, the tables were sticky. Seems to have gone downhill a bit which is a shame.

   Sunday lunch at the Royal Oak was very good. The food was plentiful with a good selection of fresh vegetables. It was nice and hot and served on a warm plate with extra gravy in a little jug. All of the waiting staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. Highly recommended.

   Wanted a small snack for two served as main. Limited choice. Salad was only lettuce mainly with prawn cocktail for main, and over all the lettuce with the pate rather than on the plate. Asked for table in restaurant but ended up in lounge bar. Staff vey polite and helpful. Value for money ok.

    Despite booking on line in advance, for restaurant table , when we arrived the staff said they had no booking. We had to wait for a table in the bar area to be prepared which we found very noisy . Disappointed as previously we have not had an issue. Food and service was fine. We will book again and hope the booking is not lost and we get the area requested.
