Really smashing food especially the Spicy Garlic Chicken and vegetables are really tasty and good portions. The atmosphere is lovely and congenial and staff are charming and attentive and the owner/chef is a hugely jolly chap who is a brilliant cook and comes up into the restaurant and greets everyone. I’ve been there twice and am heading back again tonight!

Indian food in the UK varies from mediocre to outstanding. Root Spice was outstanding - tasty, beautifully presented, ingenious and not overly spiced. The Lamb Rogan Josh - which I use as a kind of benchmark meal for Indian food - was by far the best I have ever eaten, which includes meals across India. Service was attentive without being overbearing and the ambience was, well, perfect for the food served. If you are in Bath (or nearby), you've got to eat here. (It's also very affordable)/

Friendly staff,I had the monkfish to start which was wonderful .My other half had kid balls which he enjoyed. We both had onion bhajis I would have preferred it without the chutney sauce. Next he had venison. I had kofkas in masala sauce but I was defeated after two. Very good taka dal. We will go again.
