Rooted and raised in the South, Chef Jeff McInnis grew up with southern comfort food and hospitality in his blood. His partner, Chef Janine Booth, hailing from Australia, brings with her a true passion for uniting people through food. This power couple already boasts several successful restaurants across the country and the Caribbean, with numerous accolades including three James Beard Award nominations. They are thrilled to be opening their fourth Root & Bone here in WNC.     Servers were very knowledgeable as to individual menu items and very courteous. Main kitchen items were typically delivered by the chef to the table. Great local twist to servings. Many GF and V offerings.

    The service was uneven and the chicken was mixed- some was great and some was old and tough. In the past we had a much better experience so it likely was just a bad night.

    We have been here several times. Good food and service are always very good. But the noise level is very bad. Something needs to be done about the noise level in the dining room. Could not even hear what the waiter was saying and he couldn’t hear us either!!

    Excellent shrimp and grits, wonderful deviled eggs, outstanding skillet brownie. Started out with a Pisgah Sour that was much tastier than I expected. Definitely worth ordering it all again.

    Service was great, food was excellent. Two at our table got the trout with risotto, and said it was excellent. I had the short rib meatloaf, which is not really a meatloaf, but two patties of very flavorful short rib meat with a very tasty tomato jam on top. We started with the biscuits, a bit pricey, but well worth the flavor.  All portions were very nice sizes.

    Ambience and service were good. All staff we encountered were friendly and happy. Food was average at best. The special bbq sandwich was good, the cast iron seared trout was good, the sides that accompanied it mediocre at best. Plating of dishes was consistent with a good diner, not somewhere that seems to be trying to be an upscale restaurant.
