We most recently went on a Saturday around 6:15, although we've now been here a few times. The good: The food is excellent, some of the best seafood in the area. I come back here just for that reason. Everything is fresh, the sides are great, and they do a good job creating unique recipes for each type of fish. The service is also very good, with quick and attentive waitstaff. The minor exception is that it took a little while for our food to come out, which we probably wouldn't have noticed if we were busy in conversation. Decor is pleasant, clean, and not too dark. Which brings us to... The not-so-good: The noise level inside the restaurant is painfully high. Don't expect to be able to carry on a conversation unless you're practically yelling at the person seated across from you. I noticed they also have a downstairs bar/seating area that's a bit more quiet, but I don't know how one might ask for that, I suspect it's just for large parties. We were seated at high-top tables for two. I don't know why restaurants continue to design with these: they're uncomfortable, with no back support and legs dangling. The reservation system through OpenTable is confusing and it isn't clear how one would request a regular table. Parking can be difficult on weekends. We spent 15 minutes driving around looking for a space. Not really the restaurant's fault, but something to plan for. Bathrooms are down a flight of stairs. I'm not sure if there's any provision for a handicapped person, so something to be mindful of. The $25 per-person charge for a cancelled or no-show reservation seems high, but I guess that's how things are these days.

Another terrific dinner at Rock Creek, this time early, week night, not quite as crowded, still noisy. They are awaiting some sound baffling, which should help. Meanwhile, the servers are excellent and help find the best seating. Smoked trout salad always delicious, and a very generous portion, given that it is a "Starter." We also shared the sea bass Provençal (under "Finfish"), perfectly done, luscious, and the roasted cauliflower side (who knew cauliflower could be so great). Rock Creek's menu lists many ingredients for each of its dishes, but none are for show. The flavors are clear, each ingredient adding something distinct, yet completely integrated and beautifully presented. Pricy but totally satisfying.

My fiancé and I enjoyed date night at Rock Creek last night. First the good: the food was outstanding! The Chilean Sea Bass was the best we've ever had, and we have that dish a LOT. It's our favorite. Wow, still daydreaming about those Provençal flavors and the crispiness on top. Perfection. The service was also absolutely delightful. The only challenge was the noise level. Wow, it was loud in there. We sat together on the same side, but that didn't even help that much. We are yappers and love chatting about everything and anything on date nights, but it was so hard to hear each other. I want to come back, especially for that sea bass, but may ask if there are any quieter spots next time.

Rock Creek is delightful! The blackened Wahoo was incredible, as were the tuna tartare, sea bass wraps, and old bay potatoes. The mussels were not as good as the last time I had them ... different sauce that was quite thin and not as robust. The restaurant is lovely, the service was fantastic, and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience.
