Executive chef: Randy Rucker

From the OpenTable editors: James Beard semifinalist Randy Rucker and his wife-partner Amanda Rucker opened this American gem in 2019 dedicated to spotlighting seasonal ingredients from the region. The intimate dining room feels like an extension of the open kitchen, where a four-course menu changes constantly, from sweet amalia oysters with buttermilk ponzu & trout roe to smoked steelhead trout with maple, celeriac & agretti. The results landed River Twice on the New York Times's list of the best Philadelphia restaurants.

Toast to the year ahead with a complimentary pour of champagne alongside a special seven course tasting menu featuring everything you deserve to ring in 2025, caviar, uni, truffle galore! For our final seating guests will enjoy an additional complimentary caviar service to close out the year in true celebratory style Priced at $150 per person. Beverages and pairings will be available for additional purchase in house. Tax & a 20% service charge for our entire team will be included in your bill. Please note, dietary restrictions and allergies are unable to be accommodated due to the nature of the event. Tickets are final sale.

    We felt this meal and overall experience was disappointing. Our server was snarky, there was not much in the way of personality/interaction at the chef’s counter and 3 of the 4 dishes were very salty. In addition, we went for a birthday celebration and received two messages confirming that the restaurant staff was aware of this and nothing was done to make the person celebrating feel special. It seems it was too much effort to stick a candle on a plate. I will say that the presentation of the dishes was very nice, but delivered with no flair or enthusiasm. Needless to say, we will not be returning.

    The owners and staff are very welcoming. Staff takes lots of time to describe the food and wine. We know how fish should be cooked/served: moist yet fall apart with a fork. Each seafood dish met this criteria. The flavors were all wonderful but for the fist dish which I believe has a Japanese radish that was fine but a little dominating. Each dish that followed was perfect, especially the grouper. Their wine selection is wide enough to make anyone happy, and the wine prices kept in the very reasonable ranges.

    We had a wonderful evening at River Twice. From the warm, friendly greetings by the hostess and the wait staff, to the food itself, this all made for an excellent dinner in one of Philly's most interesting neighborhoods. The meal itself was a great value, with four noteworthy- and interesting- small courses including a terrific dessert. I also recommend the wine pairing.

    Killer meal! Heavy on the seafood influence which I was very happy with. Sat at the Chef's Counter. Also ordered 1 of all the a la carte plates because we wanted to try everything. A great through line that tells the story of local sourcing. They don't hammer you over the head with didactic descriptions - they let the food do the talking and buttress their pristine ingredients with delicious accompaniments that enhance the flavors of the main event without overpowering them. Nuanced cooking with kind & gracious service. Doesn't get better.

    My partner and I really enjoyed our experience here. The care and detail that went into each dish was extraordinary and the vibe was relaxed and fun. We sat at the chefs counter and the entire team were so welcoming and friendly. We love how the menu changes frequently, we are already planning our next visit!

    The menu was exceptional, every flavor was paired perfectly with the protein of the dish. The wine pairing was an excellent addition, perfectly complimentary to the dishes. Nearly every staff member touched my table and was beyond friendly and knowledgeable. One of my favorite dining experiences in Philadelphia.

    Food was a big disappointment. Hard to imagine getting dessert so wrong. Lack of ventilation seemed like a big problem. It was extremely smokey inside and we left smelling of fried fish.

    I’d heard the burger was top tier but holy moly it was even better than I could have imagined. Probably the best burger I’ve had in my life which is a crazy thing to say. If you ever have the opportunity to try it don’t pass it up.
