Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Restaurant at The Woods offers a visually stunning dining experience with "beautiful decor" and a "great food selection." While the food often receives praise for its "amazing taste," the service has been inconsistent, with some patrons noting slow service and staff inattention. Despite this, the atmosphere remains inviting, and standout dishes like the venison steak and rustic roast keep guests coming back.

We waited 1 hour 15 mins for breakfast. Hot drinks were sent to our table about an hour before the food arrived. Music very loud for daytime breakfast/brunch style eatery. Mess visible behind the stairs. Not great for the price you pay there.

i have been to At The Woods a few times already in the past, and previously every time the food and service was outstanding. I always order the same meal, and so does my partner. i order the Hens Garden, and he has the Yorkshire Wrap. However, unfortunately over time i have noticed the price of my meal has been increasing, and the portion size is decreasing. Before i was served a hearty portion of mash, carrots, broccoli, and two chicken breast pieces. However, this time I visited, my dinner was served in a bowl which made it very awkward and uncomfortable to eat dinner out of a bowl with a knife and fork. This was a main meal for me for £20 which did not fill me at all. The portion of mash was roughly two tablespoons, i was no longer served carrots, the broccoli was crunchy, and i was now only served one piece of chicken which was quite small. My partner was also disappointed with his food. This is the same thing he has ordered the previous times, and this time the steak in his wrap was overcooked and chewy, so he had to spit it out which is appalling. At The Woods is a new restaurant which has come to birmingham, although they have been open for a little while now, they are still NEW. Getting ahead of the game by playing it smart and increasing prices and decreasing portions is most definitely not smart, and driving loyal customers away.

The restaurant decoration is lovely. We liked the novelty lamp change for service , it worked well. Our small plates were lovely. Wine and service were good. Both of our party who had desserts were disappointed, they were also expensive.

This is my second time dining at this restaurant. The food on this occasion was disappointing. Chicken breast was just warm and served on a chipped plate/ bowl. However, fries were hot. Latte luke warm. Wouldn't recommend.

The staff were very supportive and helpful. Particularly the lady at the bar (she had curly hair). Unfortunately I didn’t get her name but she went the extra mile to make sure I was happy with my food. The food in itself was filling but nothing extraordinary. The drinks particularly the mocktails were nice.

Great food but No draught beer available. Staff said they were short staffed. A number of items not available on the menu. Staff seemed unbothered by the lack of items . Said they were sorry but obviously didn’t really mean it! Light system on the tables a great idea if the staff are looking in your direction (which they mostly weren’t ) so we ended up having to try and catch their eye or get up and ask them to come over . Only 3 tables occupied when we went so it wasn’t as if they were busy!

Restaurant is very pretty; so aesthetic and cosy. Food wasn’t great. Expensive for what it was (had 3 plates for £25) Dirty fries were soaked in bbq sauce; way too much and the padron peppers were flavourless; salt would have been needed and much more feta. Several things were missing from the menu but I guess Saturdays are busy so that makes sense.

Lovely environment, the team worked hard to keep us watered and feed quickly and the bill even though not cheap was reasonable.

It is very rare I go to a restaurant and the steak is cooked perfect and this was just that! Excellent.
