Opened in 1999 by Chef/Owner Alex Roberts, Restaurant Alma is a casual fine dining restaurant, offering eclectic American cuisine and warm hospitality in a rustic historically preserved building. A high, open beam ceiling, exposed brick columns and concrete floors display the original space, while an open kitchen, banquette seating and gentle lighting contribute to an intimate and contemporary feel.

Alma is best known for sourcing the best quality seasonal ingredients available and features a high percentage of local and organic products. Our menu changes every six to eight weeks, offering both new and signature dishes. We feature a three course tasting menu format, allowing the customer to select any three dishes from the menu for $62 with optional wine pairings, and a la carte options.

Alma is the winner of the James Beard Best Chef Midwest award. and has received 4 stars from the StarTribune.

We have been visiting Alma for the last 6 years. The cost is high, but the events are important. Twice a year we come for our wedding anniversary and my wife's birthday/my proposal dinner. Alma NEVER disappoints. The only disappointing thing is my cooking for months after we come :-).

I know you don’t normally mention the valet, but this time I have to. I had car troubles, had to have roadside assistance jump my car. This was before dinner. So, during dinner the valet babysat my car. He did this without asking and with a smile. Now Alma. Everything was great. It is not cheap, but everything was excellent, and worth it. First, there is only a three course dinner (at least the night we went, but I think it is every night). With each course you have choices. My first course was a hamachi sashimi. Second was tempura octopus with a fish broth. The octopus was tender, and very lightly battered. Excellent. My last course was my favorite. Gnocchi with shrimp in a truffle cream sauce. Great place for a business dinner. Service, ambiance, decor, comfort, and a great valet. I will be back.

We throughly enjoyed the menu and wine pairings. Everything was delicious, the wine pairings were spot-on and our service was fantastic. I’d highly recommend for special occasions or for a date night. We’ll definitely be back!
