I had a disappointing experience at Red Lobster recently. After being seated, our waitress didn't acknowledge us for 20 minutes. Frustrated, we decided to dine elsewhere. Surprisingly, even the hostess failed to offer an apology for the lack of service. Disappointing customer care overall.

This Golden Valley location is the ‘gold standard’ by which all other Red Lobsters should be judged. In 23 years of being a loyal guest of this restaurant, we have never EVER had a complaint. I’m a persnickety person, and I tend to verbally eviscerate in these reviews. Red Lobster Golden Valley is not one of them. The quality of the product, service and even the cleanliness of the parking lot speaks volumes. There is pride in this store!

I had one of their dinner specials, 2 shrimp choices for $18. I was there a few weeks ago and it was $16 with 2 sides. Now it was only 1 side. The server told us there will be another new menu next week so I'm sure the price will go up again. I had Walt's shrimp and shrimp scampi, 6 of each and a baked potato. I ordered a Caesar salad for $2.99 which was very good. The shrimp were delicious and the potato very good. I ordered it without salt on the skin. With beverage, not included, and tip, my dinner came to $32. We did have excellent service as we have had that waitress before. A year ago, Walt's shrimp special (12 shrimp) including beverage plus tip came to$19 so there have been many increases.

Every Red Lobster location throughout the twin cities metro should look to the Golden Valley location as the standard they need to live up to. The team here is polished, professional, and engaged with the guest and their needs. They are well stocked with product, it’s served by a phenomenal waitstaff who ensures your desires and expectations are met. The Golden Valley store does not compromise on quality… be it the food, service or atmosphere. You will never be disappointed by this team. We have dined here on occasions for over 23 years, they’ve never let us down like Woodbury, Maple Grove and Blaine have.

There is a new menu since last there. I always got the Thursday "daily special." It was Walt's shrimp and you would get a dozen medium size shrimp with 1 side (used to be 2 sides). Now the salad is extra and it included a beverage. The new special is shrimp and sea scallops on skewers served on a bed of rice plus one side. Beverage is not included. With tip I used to pay $20. Now with tip, it cost me $28. (I always tip 20% before tax.) The shrimp were smaller and I though a little over cooked. The scallops were a decent size but not real large. I thought they were slightly under cooked. I did order a salad for $2.99 and that was good. Reading the specials, I was a little confused but that was probably just me. I thought the server was nice but maybe new as she couldn't answer all my questions.
