We enjoyed our second visit for tea in the Raleigh room. Our server was great- but he was extremely busy, so there were several times we waited for him. Also, we sat near an outside door, and men kept going in and out (setting up for an event) - that was pretty annoying. It is a lovely place

We ha had been talking about having tea at the Cavalier Hotel for 2 years. My mom and I were so excited to go experience the beautiful hotel since the renovation. We've been to several teas in our state, and we just knew that having tea at the Cavalier would be amazing. We were so disappointed. The tea was served in a cup, not a pot, so the tea was cold. The food was subpar. I have a gluten intolerance and spent extra money on my dietary restriction, and the waitress couldn't even tell me what was on my tray. If you have had high tea at other places and good experiences, don't waste your money at the Cavalier.

Gorgeous venue. Doorman greeted us warmly. No one greeted us when we entered Raleigh Room. Found our way to bar, where I spoke with a female staff member, who definitely had an attitude. This staff member was actually our server. While trying to engage her in conversation, she shared that she really didn’t want to be there!! Hmmmm, that explained the attitude. Her service was great, the presentation was beautiful, food and tea delicious. Ham salad was the best. Live piano music was VERY loud. When I asked if we could move to a table further away, server said not possible, the music, although live, was amplified with speakers. Overall, great value at a gorgeous, old resort. Beautiful tea service with wonderful food. Unfortunately, our service was not commensurate with the Cavalier’s reputation.

The price of tea service and paying for valet at the renaissance room is mostly about the ambience. We at a 1 pm reservation and they sat everyone at the end of the room, farthest from the pianist (who was great). During that time, a private event ended and everything was getting carted out through the 2 doors for at least 30 minutes- it was loud, and very distracting. Additionally, we were sat next to the air conditioning vent which was dusty and cold, and when we received cold water for our first cup of tea. I had been looking forward to this afternoon tea, but sadly due to what’s mentioned above I wouldn’t recommend this to my friends.

Our overall experience was very nice. Our server, I believe her name was Shelby, was very attentive and personable. The area in which we were seated was pretty and plush and the piano and bass music were a nice touch. The only areas that I would suggest could use attention were the seating area we were given was on a large, deep couch with tea, champagne, and food presented on a round coffee table. This arrangement made it difficult to access and enjoy our beverages and food, as we had to reposition ourselves several times in order to reach our items. In addition, the table was within close proximity to other patrons who ultimately shared it as a place for their drinks. Ordinarily this would be perfectly fine, but not in light of the cost of what we thought would be a more individual experience. One of the teas offered on the menu was out of stock, but no substitute was offered. This limited us to only two teas that could be enjoyed with milk, as the others would curdle if milk had been added. It's a great venue and the tea is certainly something to try at least once, but the pricing is on the high side which can be a deterrent.

Server was slow and inattentive at times. He was distracted chatting with other staff much of the time with his back turned to us.

We were fortunate enough to be able to score a “tea” reservation in the beautiful Raleigh Room this month. The tea was presented beautifully, and the pastries, scones and tea sandwiches were absolutely divine. We highly recommend this unique and lovely experience.

I am not sure if the tea service has changed. We used to get one pot of hot water per person and this time we got one pot for 3 people. We left it open when we needed a refill and was never given a refill. It took over 30 minutes to get one mimosa and the house Gin drink. Neither came with any sort of garnish? For $12-$17 a drink it seemed odd? We had a vegan member in our party, by the time we had almost finished the tea tower of snacks, the vegan member was just barely placing her order for her food. I think the room is beautiful, I think the food and teas are always wonderful. I’ve been a bunch of times of the years and have always appreciated the accommodations made for the dietary needs in our group. I just was surprised at the service. With that said our waiter was very nice and polite. It just didn’t seem as busy as it has in the past even with the holidays so it just kinda put us off with the timing and wait and changes to the service.

We’d never done their holiday tea before. It was more expensive than their normal tea, for about the same experience. It was lovely as always but very crowded to the point that there was confusion about seating arrangements.
