   My wife and I have found a new favorite restaurant in Virginia Beach -Quemar. The valet, Anthony was very welcoming and professional. The atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy with perfect soft white lighting. Mary our server was so helpful and explained the meaning behind the restaurant name, gave detailed and interesting insights into the menu items and just made the whole experience very relaxing and enjoyable. We will request to be in Mary’s section when we return. Tacos were delicious and the “carrot” dish we had heard about lived up to it’s hype. Great wine selection also. The gluten free apple crisp desert was also a winner. Top marks!

   Our server was behind the eight ball our entire meal. He missed several drink orders and demonstrated a lack of attention to detail with pre-bussing the table or asking the entire table for drink orders whenever we would get his attention. He also told us about the meal specials after we had already ordered entrees. Our bill before gratuity was $985. Automatic gratuity of 20% for the level of service we received was unjustified. Love the ambience at Quemar and the food is always good, margaritas are excellent. However, with the amount of money I spent I expect a decent level of service, especially for a business meal. I will not be taking my large parties to Quemar in the future because of this concern.

   The food was OK- not bad but not gourmet - unfortunately my husband’s burrito was cold when it reached our table. The prices are exorbitant for food that’s not nearly as good as the food you will find at Plaza Azteca or another normal Mexican restaurant in Virginia Beach. We had a gift card, fortunately. Also, they require you to use valet parking which adds to the cost of the evening. We do not plan to go back!

   We came for a valentines date. The restaurant was busy as expected, service was attentive, valet was a big help our entrees were very aesthetically pleasing. We had the salsa which was a little too much tomato for my palate and seemed a bit on the purée or muddled side. Back to the entrees which were exceptional and flavorful. The waiter made great suggestions for the margarita which was very interesting. We both agreed we would return again.

   My hubby and I went for Valentine’s Day and the food was a bit different… it was very clean, whole foods which was tasty, but very straight forward. Our server was amazing and I loved the mood. Weekends are fun when the have the DJ and we can dance!!

   Second time here had a good time food is good! Our waiter Toni was phenomenal!! We brought a guess and she made the experience that much better for her!!! !!!!

   Food and atmosphere were wonderful. Just what we were looking for for a fun girls night. We waited quite a while for a server to great our table but the manager brought over a delicious appetizer for the inconvenience.
