The food was fantastic, the service perfect. Just a couple of things. Our fist time there. We were seated at the first table from the door. It’s January and the cold was unbearable. I asked to be moved and they did accommodate us (that was excellent). But why would they seat anyone there at all is baffling. There was a bread plate as part of the table setting, but no bread was offered. Again just baffling, not to detract from the truly wonderful food. Finally, I’m a pretty light eater, the food was so great, the potatoes and the creamed spinach,I decided to take home the left overs, I usually don’t. The waiter boxed up. When I got home, only the steak made it into the box. I was so disappointed.

It’s just ok. Still worth waiting for SF House of prime rib. The Garden’s food is just ok and doesn’t taste as fresh as the original HOPR. There is only one bathroom stall. Service was fair. The restaurant itself is one large room with a small elevated level in the side but there is no privacy between tables. Everyone can see every single person inside the restaurant- no walls or dividers. I probably won’t be back

We're longtime customers of the House of Prime Rib in S.F. and have always considered it the gold standard for our favorite cut off beef. Prime Rib at the Garden fell short of our expectations. The meat, while attractively presented, was not nearly as tender and flavorful as we had hoped it would be. Ditto with the two salads -- both just so so. And the garlic mashed potatoes were missing the garlic! Desert was excellent and so was the ambiance service. Too bad the food was a disappointment. The noise level was fairly high as well.

Food was really good. However there is no bar to wait at, so when we arrived early to have a pre-dinner drink we were turned away and had to go to a bar on Locust

Being an avid House of Prime Rib(HOPR)customer for over a decade, I made sure to temper my expectations with this restaurant that has only been open for a couple of months…with that in mind, I must say that my family and I were pleasantly surprised with our overall experience. The ambiance was cute and elegant…the main dining area felt a bit chaotic with the design…large, two leveled room with a high ceiling that felt cluttered in the middle. Tables were tightly compacted and I felt like no matter how close I sat towards my table it seemed like I was in the way of the staff. There’s a separate dining room with its own bar that felt more lounge-like and intimate. I didn’t get to see the upper garden area/outside area. Now to the important part… the food!! Similar to HOPR, they had 3 options for cut size…plus another for kids and each cut includes a salad and 2 sides. They even have an option for sharing… for a small price of course. The salad options were okay… felt light on the dressing but the sides were delicious… pending on how you like your creamed spinach, this creamed spinach was delicious as well as the potatoes gratin. The star of the show/prime rib was definitely impressive! To those that love prime rib, you’ll definitely be able to taste the subtle texture and nuance of the flavor. I am not going to compare it to HOPR…just unfair to do that. Overall, the entire experience was great… solid 4/5 stars. The pricing is a bit on the higher side and I’m sure there will be tweaks and changes as it continues to grow but I will say this…the east bay definitely now has a go to prime rib spot for those special or even ordinary occasions to go to!

The food was delicious. Tender, juicy prime rib with all the traditional side dishes and sauces. The fish was sea bass, beautifully prepared. Desserts were first class. Service was attentive but not intrusive. A tad loud as people had more to drink but not intolerable. We would definitely come back.

Everything was absolutely wonderful. My only complaint would actually be the steak knife. For being open only six weeks the serrated steak knife was not the best at cutting my prime rib.
