   Dined for the NYE 5 course plated dinner with wine pairing. Had to start with some oysters. Dishes were impeccably executed and the wines complemented nicely. Other than the elevated noise level and cold draft wafting through, our evening was perfect.

   Not really a fan! Took my wife to the New Year’s experience ($150 pp) plus wine pairing ($50 pp). Prior to starting the official fixed menu courses we ordered a dozen fresh oysters (additional charge). Overall, the oysters (7/10), leek and potato soup (8/10), cannelloni (5/10), poached fish (8/10), lamb chops (7/10) and orange crème brûlée (5/10). Food quantity and presentation were good but only lukewarm at best. Unfortunately, the wine pairings were extremely poor. Apart from the Chardonnay (8/10), the rest of the wine pairs were extremely disappointing (4/10). Towards the end of my courses I started drinking and paying extra for items not on the pairing list because I so disliked wines presented. The service was good and we had no complaints about our waitress or manager. The restaurant had been the victim of vandalism and the windows on 20th street had been smashed in places leaving holes communicating directly with the -19C temperature outside the restaurant. The front half of the floor space inside was bitterly cold. Patrons were wearing toques and jackets while eating. Management and our waitress did everything to find us another table half way through our meal when one opened up. This broken window event carried zero weight to this review since it had nothing to do with the service, food or wine. Restrooms were clean. In total, the bill came to $567 for the two of us. We left with severe misgivings about choosing Primal for our New Year’s Eve outing. Our rating overall considering value for money, ambiance, food and wine satisfaction, service, management communication, facility and amenities is only 5.5/10. We won’t be going back and neither will another couple we were talking to at the adjacent table.

   Delicious food. Hard to describe the mastery required to put together such delicious, well balanced Italian-inspired meals. A lot of care is put into coming up with such a great menu and preparing such amazing dishes. A wonderful culinary experience all around. Not a place to go for a cheap meal, but most definitely satisfying and worth every penny.

   One of my favourite restaurants in Saskatoon hands down. Tonight was another great experience - food, service, ambience etc, all of it!

    Amazing food and large portions. Great place for a night out. Service was a bit hectic the night we had supper. It was a Monday and they said they weren’t expecting the crowd that they had. We had a reservation and I know so did a few others that were seated after us so I’m not sure if that’s a fair excuse by their staff. We will be going back for the 5 course!
