Prairie Star Restaurant and Wine Bar at Santa Ana Golf Club has offered an unforgettable dining experience since 1986. Housed in a renovated 100 year-old adobe ranch house, the warmth and intimacy of Prairie Star is intoxicating. You may absorb the NM Territorial atmosphere of handmade adobe walls, kiva fireplaces and full viga and latilla ceilings while enjoying awe-inspiring and sweeping views of the golf course and the Sandia Mountains.

Our culinary team masterfully creates stunning Contemporary New American cuisine with global influences and Executive Chef Myles Lucero changes our menu seasonally to reflect the time and freshest ingredients at hand. Each dish is carefully crafted from the finest ingredients, locally sourced when possible, and organic, sustainable and fair trade items preferred.

Prairie Star serves prix fixe menus on major holidays, and you can find details at prairiestarrestaurant.com. We are closed Christmas Day and New Years Day.

Great food, awesome service, superb desert. Table of 4 next to us were very noisy, but made us laugh a few times. We've been coming here since 1998...still our favorite NM restaurant.

We started with drinks. Our server, Francesca, made our drinks. It was the best Old Fashioned I have ever had. Perfect. We both had the braised beef fettuccine special as our main. It was amazing. Rich and creamy with great flavor. We loved having Francesca as our server. She had great recommendations and was very attentive, but gave us time & space to enjoy our cocktails before ordering. The timing was perfect. We had a lovely evening and can’t wait to go back.

Food was delicious. We had a table in alcove which we liked. The room did seem a little noisy. Service was excellent. Staff is very well trained.

While my dinner, including the French Onion Soup and Cioppino was wonderful my partner could not stop talking about how tender and tasty his steak was and even though he did not like asparagus he felt that the way it was prepared and the tenderness of it was enough to change his mind. I had enough of the wonderful Cioppino for lunch the next day. The portions were very generous and the amount of seafood was more than I had expected. The tiramisu came home with us and was smooth and silky and not overly sweet. We enjoyed the whole experience!

I love Chef Myles Wine and Dine. This evening, we had the "wineless" and dine (Nov 2024). Bread was hard as a rock. :( French onion soup and pear salad were wonderful. Steak was excellent. Seafood was a bit spicy, and the shrimp overcooked, but the scallops were divine. Tiramisu was to die for. We were seated in a section of the restaurant we had not been in before, a passageway to other small dining rooms. Huge windows for the view until it got dark, and unfortunately, I was cold the whole evening. Next time I'll ask for the fireplace room in the winter. Overall, another delicious experience.

Thank you for sharing your valuable feedback with us. I have sent it to Chef, the manager and the service staff to make sure they are not serving bread that has been in the warmer too long again. My apologies on all our behalf. We appreciate you noting that we can serve the Wine & Dine menu to non-wine drinkers. I am glad to hear everything else was enjoyable, except the temperature of the seating, and I trust the staff will take note of that as well.

Prairie Star has become our and our daughter’s favorite restaurant since she has returned home from college in New York. Of course, this was her choice for her birthday dinner and everything was excellent! An extra thanks to Francesca for taking such good care of us!!!

Must have been an off night. Unfortunately it was a birthday celebration which was not good. Bread is now an up charge of $5.00 which is high for a few rounds of a baquette. So the first course of a salad arrived by itself. This is usually a course that is hard to ruin but somehow that happened. On top of a commercial lettuce mix were hot cooked mushrooms and tasteless cubes of squash. If this was an experiment, it failed. The textures and flavors did not work. The main course had one winning component with the pork chop which was properly cooked and tender. Unfortunately it was served with an inedibly salty yet flavorless "stuffing." Finally for dessert was some kind of cheesecake which was mysterious in flavor. It was rich but not appealing as the calories were the only noticeable characteristic. We did not enjoy it enough to actually eat it which is a rare happening. We have enjoyed the Wine and Dine special in the past but this experience will cause us to question the event in the future. $100.00 including tip is still a lot of money particularly if it isn't wonderful.
